This time to Sacramento State in game two of their series, 5-4 at Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field on Saturday afternoon.

Cooper Moore (3-1) got the start on the bump for the Bayou Bengals and went 4.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits. He walked three and struck out four while being charged with the loss. LSU ended up using five pitchers in the defeat.

Sacramento State struck first, plating a run in the top of the second inning. 1-0, Hornets as we moved to the bottom of the frame.

With the LSU bats ice cold all game long, the Hornets added a huge blow in the top of the eighth when Cameron Sewell hit a grand slam with two outs off of Jaden Noot to put Sacramento State up, 5-0 as we headed to the bottom of the frame.

LSU finally got things going at the plate in the bottom of the eighth. Brown and Milam were issued back to back walks. Zach Yorke then doubled to score Brown and advance Milam to third. After Seth Dardar struck out, Milam was able to come home on a wild pitch, while Yorke moved up to third. Omar Serna was able to reach safely on a throwing error, allowing Yorke to come home. LSU now trailed 5-3 as we moved to the ninth inning.

Daniel Harden led off the bottom of the ninth with a solo home run to right field. After Curiel lined out to right field, Brown walked. Milam was then issued a base on balls. Runners on first and second with one out. But the comeback would fall short as LSU took another one on the chin.

With the loss LSU falls to a surprising 12-4. Next, the Tigers will play Sacramento State in the final game of their three game series on Sunday, March 8 at 6:00pm.

**We have our baseball/basketball edition of 'Talking Tigers with Da Boot Sports' live on our YouTube channel, Monday night at 8pm. He went 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out nine to get the win.

LSU wasted no time getting the bats going in the first inning. Derek Curiel led off with a double down the left field line. Jake Brown stepped to the plate and took a pitch for a ride over the left field wall for a two run homer. Zach Yorke then doubled to right center. Mason Braun reached safely on a fielding error, sending Yorke to third. Braun advanced to second on a wild pitch. Seth Dardar then doubled to right field to bring Yorke and Braun home. LSU took a 4-0 lead into the second inning.

Jack Ruckert led off the second by reaching first base safely on an error. Derek Curiel stepped to the plate and hit a two run homer to right field. Jake Brown then followed with a massive solo home run to deep center field. The Tigers loaded the bases, but left them all stranded as the inning came to an end with LSU now leading, 7-0.

With one out in the bottom of the third, Cade Arrambide was hit by a pitch. Ruckert was then issued a base on balls. Curiel doubled to left center field, bringing Arrambide home and advancing Ruckert to third. Jake Brown stepped to the plate and launched his third home run of the game over the right center field wall. This time it was a three run shot! Steven Milam was hit by a pitch. Yourke singled to right field. Braun then singled up the middle to score Milam and advance Yourke to second. But that's all the Tigers could muster in the frame. We moved to the fourth inning with LSU on top, 12-0.

Cade Arrambide led off the fourth with a solo home run to center field. After two great defensive plays by Sacramento State for two outs, Brown singled to center field. Milam then homered to right field for his first home run of the season. We headed to the fifth with the Bayou Bengals leading, 15-0. Jay Johnson began to pull the starters allowing some younger players to see some action.

The Hornets plated two runs in the top of the sixth, chasing Evans who was replaced by Zion Theophilus. Theophilus quickly got LSU back into the dugout.

Marcos Paz entered the game in the seventh to close out the ten run rule victory. The Hornets plated two more garbage runs in the frame.

LSU improves their record to 12-3. Williams gave up four runs on three hits. He walked one and struck out one before being pulled early in the second inning. Cooper was charged with the loss. LSU ended up using eight pitchers on the night, with shaky results. It was just a crazy, off night for the Bayou Bengals who have struggled over the last five games

The Huskies got to Cooper Williams in the second inning. Two singles and a throwing error on Williams allowed a run to cross the plate for Northeastern. Williams continued to struggle badly in the inning as the Huskies loaded the bases with still no outs. Jay Johnson had seen enough, pulling Williams for Zac Cowan. An error by John Pearson at first allowed another run to score, keeping the bases loaded. Harrison Feinberg singled to left field to plate two more runs. Cowan finally stopped the bleeding. We headed to the bottom of the frame with LSU trailing, 4-0.

Northeastern's Matt Brinker led off the top of the third with a double. He was able to advance to third on a wild pitch. AJ Aschettino then single to center field, bringing the run home. Another singled followed putting runners on first and third with two outs. Chris Walsh stepped to the plate and homered to left field. That ended Cowan's night. He was replaced by Reagan Ricken. Ricken walked the first batter he faced. A wild pitch moved the runner to second. Feinberg singled to bring the runner home. Ryan Gerety doubled to the right field corner to plat another run. Tigers finally ended the outburst by the Huskies. This was like being in the Twilight Zone. We moved to the bottom of the third with Northeastern on top, 10-0. The Huskies batted around twice in the inning.

Seth Dardar reached safely on a fielding error to lead off the bottom of the third for LSU's first base runner of the night. But Cade Arrambide grounded into a double play. Trent Caraway singled to left field with two outs. Jake Brown flied out to left field to end the inning. Best way to describe the Tigers play is UGLY. As ugly as my ex-wife. We moved to the fourth with Northeastern still up, 10-0.

Derek Curiel led off the fourth with a single to center field. Pearson was issued a base on balls. Zach Yorke then walked to load the bases with no outs. Steven Milam grounded out to plate a run and setting up runners on second and third with one out. Brayden Simpson went down on strikes. Dardar grounded out to strand the runners. We headed to the fifth with LSU trailing, 10-1.

Pitcher Zion Theophilus entered the contest for the Tigers in the fifth and took the Huskies down in order quickly.

The Huskies continued their assault on LSU pitching in the top of the sixth. Two doubles led to another run. We advanced to the bottom of the sixth with Northeastern leading, 11-1.

Curiel led off the sixth reaching safely on an error, which sent him to second. Pearson flied out to advance Curiel to third. Yorke walked to put runners on the corners with one out. Milam singled to center field, scoring Curiel and moving Yorke to second. Runners on first and second with one out. The one run was all the Tigers could muster. We headed to the seventh inning with the Huskies leading, 11-2.

Sloppy LSU play continued in the top of the seventh, a fielding error, a walk, a passed ball, and a base hit led to two more runs for the Huskies. 13-2, Northeastern as we moved to the bottom of the frame.

Trying to avoid a run-rule loss at home, the Tigers loaded the bases with no outs and were able to plate three runs to extend the contest. As the seventh inning came to an end, the Huskies now led, 13-5.

The Tigers cut into the lead in the eighth. William Patrick was issued a lead off walk. After Daniel Harden flied out to right field, Edward Yamin IV hit the first home run of his LSU career. A beautiful shot over the left field wall. We headed to the ninth with LSU trailing, 13-7.

LSU was able to plate three runs in the ninth, but unfortunately, there would be no dramatic comeback on this night for the Bayou Bengals.

The loss drops LSU to 11-2 on the season. Next up the Tigers will travel down the road to Lafayette to play UL-Lafayette on Wednesday, March 4 at 6:00pm.

**We have our baseball/basketball edition of 'Talking Tigers with Da Boot Sports' live on our YouTube channel, Monday night at 8pm. LSU's hitting woes continued as they struggled at the plate for the fourth straight game.

William Schmidt got the call on the bump for the Tigers and had a fantastic outing, going 7.1 innings, giving up no runs on four hits. He struck out nine and earned the win.

LSU plated a run in the bottom of the first when Jake Brown blasted a two out, solo homer into the right field bleachers. The contest moved to the second with LSU on top, 1-0.

Steven Milam started things off in the fourth inning with a double to center field. After an Arrambide strike out, Seth Dardar reached on a fielding error, advancing to second. Milam was able to score on the play. The inning came to an end with LSU leading, 2-0.

Schmidt began to run out of gas in the eighth with a runner on first with one out and was replaced by Dax Dathe. Dathe hit the first pitcher he faced and was quickly replaced by Mavrick Rizy. Rizy struck out the next two batters to get LSU back into the dugout with no damage done.

The Tigers went into the bottom of the eighth looking for insurance runs. With one out, Derek Curiel reached safely on a fielding error. Jake Brown then launched a deep fly ball to center field that went over the center fielder's head, scoring Curiel and putting Brown at second base. We headed to the ninth with LSU up, 3-0.

Rizy registered two outs before giving way to Jaden Noot who struck out the final batter for the victory.

**We have our baseball/basketball edition of 'Talking Tigers with Da Boot Sports' live on our YouTube channel, Monday night at 8pm. We moved on to the fifth with LSU up, 3-0.

Northeastern plated a run in the top of the fifth on a solo homer by AJ Aschettino. 3-1, Tigers as we headed to the bottom of the frame.

The Tigers' bats remained cold the rest of the way, But a fantastic outing by Cooper Moore and a great job by Deven Sheerin coming in to close things out vaulted the Bayou Bengals to the 3-1 victory.

LSU improves to 10-1. LSU pitching struggled all night long and the Tigers were cold at the plate.

Marcos Paz (0-1) got the start on the bump for the Tigers and only went 1.2 innings before running into trouble and being replaced by Cooper Williams. Paz gave up four runs on one hit. Walked two and struck out two. Paz was charged with the loss. No one who took the mound for the Tigers could pitch with any kind of consistency. Jay Johnson used ten total pitchers and no one could step up and get the job done. The Tigers also had a tough night at the plate. LSU pitchers walked six and hit five batters to help out the Cowboys. It was just a bad night for the Bayou Bengals at the Box.

Derek Curiel started the bottom of the first with a single to left field. Jake Brown grounded out, advancing Curiel to second. After Milam popped out, Zach Yorke stepped to the plate and launched a blazing line drive home run to right field. We headed to the second inning with LSU on top, 2-0.

McNeese stepped up in the top of the second, scoring a run, then loading the bases to get Puz replaced by Cooper Williams. The Cowboys plated three more runs before Williams could get the Bayou Bengals back into the dugout. 4-2, McNeese as we headed to the bottom of the second.

LSU continued to struggle in top of the fourth, Dax Dathe had a very short appearance, being replaced by Mavrick Rizy. McNeese loaded the bases with one out and was able to plate two more runs, before Danny Lachenmayer came in to get the final out and stop the bleeding. 7-2, McNeese as we move to the bottom of the inning.

In the bottom of the fifth, Trent Caraway got things started with a one out walk. Curiel then walked. Brown singled to left field, scoring Caraway and moving Curiel to third. Curiel was able to come home on a pass ball. Brown moved up to second. That would be all the Tigers could manage. McNeese now led 7-4 after five innings.

Pearson singled up the middle to get things going in the bottom of the sixth. Reaves then walked. Mason Braun drew a base on balls to load the bases with one out. Curiel flied out to left field to score Pearson. The inning ended with McNeese leading, 7-5.

John Pearson blasted a solo homer over the left field wall in the bottom of the eighth. 7-6, McNeese as we headed to the ninth.

LSU got two on with one out, but could make the timely hit needed to complete the comeback.

The Tigers are now, 8-1 on the season. He struck out 11 to register his first win of the season. Grant Fontenot got the save.

Trent Caraway led off the bottom of the third with a single up the middle. Chris Stanfield made it safely on an error throw by the short stop. The error allowed Caraway to move to third and Stanfield to advance to second base. Derek Curiel hit a sacrifice fly deep to left field to bring Caraway home and move Stanfield to third. Jake Brown then singled to right field to bring Stanfield home. The third came to an end with LSU leading 2-0.

The Panthers got on the board in the top of the fourth when Bradyn Horn launched a solo homer to left field, cutting the Tigers' lead in half, 2-1 as we headed to the bottom of the frame.

With two on in the bottom of the eighth, Steven Milam would hit a double to left center, plating two big runs. Arrambide then doubled to center field to bring Milam home. We headed to the ninth with LSU on top, 5-1.

Milwaukee would plate two more runs, chasing Zac Cowan who entered the game in the ninth. Grant Fontenot replaced Cowan to record the final out for the Tigers.

The 2-0 Tigers will play game three of the series against Milwaukee on Sunday at 1:00pm.

*John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life.
