Da Boot Sports 4/3/2026 By: Terrill J. Weil KNOXVILLE, TN - LSU is a team that simply doesn't panic or quits. They defeated Tennessee in game one of their series on Friday night, 7-4. It was another fantastic come from behind victory. A huge win for the Fighting Tigers! Casan Evans got his usual Friday night start and went 5.2 innings. He gave up three runs on six hits, walked two and struck out six. Santiago Garcia (1-0) got the win and Deven Sheerin earned his second save of the season. Derek Curiel led off the second inning with a single to left field. He then stole second base. After Seth Dardar went down swinging, John Pearson singled to right field, advancing Curiel to third to put runners on the corners with one out. Zach Yorke struck out. Pearson moved to second on the play. Mason Braun was issued a base on balls to load the bases with two outs. Chris Stanfield popped out to end the scoring threat. The Tigers left the bases loaded as we head to the bottom of the second inning. Still no score. Steven Milam lined out to start the top of the third. Jake Brown stepped to the plate a blasted a home run over the left field wall to give LSU the early lead. The solo homer was all the Tigers could manage. Moving to the bottom of the frame, the Bayou Bengals led, 1-0. Levi Clark launch a massive home run over the left field wall to tie the contest. The Tigers got back into the dugout quickly after the solo homer. As the third inning ended, we were all even at 1-1. The Vols took the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a two run homer by Reese Chapman. Tennessee led, 3-1 as we headed to the fifth inning. In the bottom of the seventh Tennessee was able to plate another run on a base on balls with the bases loaded to extend their lead to 4-1. LSU finally found some more offense in the top of the eighth. Mason Braun led off with a base on balls. Stanfield was walked. Milam then walked to load the bases with no outs. After Serna struck out, Curiel hit a grand slam to left field. Dardar then stepped to the plate and blasted a solo homer over the right field wall. We moved to the bottom of the eighth with LSU leading, 6-4. With two outs in the top of the ninth, Chris Stanfield launched a solo home run to left field to give LSU an insurance run. LSU found themselves up, 7-4 going to the bottom of the ninth. Deven Sheerin entered the game to start the eighth inning and pitched two fantastic innings to protect the LSU lead, giving up one run on two hits. He walked one and struck out four. LSU improves to 21-10 overall and 5-5 in SEC play.
