   BATON ROUGE, LA - Jay Johnson met with the media on Friday afternoon to discuss the 2025 baseball season. Players, Kade Anderson. Jared Jones, Michael Braswell III and Gavin Guidry were also able to speak with the media. 21 days until first pitch of the season. The Tigers will open against Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday, February, 14 at 2:00 pm. LSU begins the season ranked #3 in the nation by D1 Baseball Preseason Poll.

   BATON ROUGE, LA - And we’re off! The 2025 LSU Baseball season officially kicked off on the evening of January 16, 2025 at the Crowne Royal Plaza in Baton Rouge. The house was packed and the excitement was palpable. LSU’s National Championship head coach Jay Johnson addressed the buzz about his team’s upcoming season.    
   Coach Johnson talked about culture, talent, expectations, and playing in Alex Box Stadium. Johnson has headed up the #1 freshman recruiting class, added key portal transfers and has stated that finding the right mix of youth and experience is vital to establishing team chemistry. 

   The Tigers can be your Valentine this year as they open up the 2025 season at Alex Box Stadium on February 14th vs Purdue Fort Wayne in a weekend series. The Tigers first SEC series will also be at Alex Box Stadium vs the Tigers of Missouri. The Tigers will then travel the following weekend to Austin for a battle of college baseball titans vs the Texas Longhorns.

   LSU has opened the season ranked  #3 in the D1 Baseball rankings and ranked #2 by Perfect Game. Baseball America has yet to release a ranking for 2025.

   Jay Johnson spoke to a packed house of over 1,000 fans in the Crowne Plaza, thanking the crowd for its tremendous support.   “If I was to sum up in one word what it means for me to be here tonight, that word would be thankful,” Johnson said. “When you invest your life in a profession, one of the greatest things is having people get behind you, and there is nothing like the support we get from our fans in Alex Box Stadium.
   “LSU is an amazing place with great tradition; it’s about excellence and being the best of the best. It is the pathway to professional baseball and the chance to compete and win a national championship. I know this 2025 team will uphold that elite tradition.”

   Thursday night’s event raised $400,000 for the LSU Baseball program.
