BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU defeated Southeastern Louisiana 12-4 on Tuesday night at Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field in front of 10,367 Tiger fans.  Zac Cowan had a solid pitching performance in the middle innings and Danny Lachenmayer (2-0) earned the win for the Tigers.

Another terrible start on the bump for LSU as starting pitcher Reagan Ricken struggled from the first pitch of the contest, giving up a walk, an infield single and hit a batter to load the bases with no outs. Jay Johnson went quickly to the bull pen, brining in Danny Lachenmayer. A sacrifice fly to left field scored a run for the Lions. Lachenmayer was able to get LSU back into the dugout with no more damage done. We moved to the bottom of the opening frame with Southeastern on top, 1-0.

LSU answered. Mason Braun started things with a one out single to left field. Derek Curiel doubled down the right field line, moving Braun to third. A wild pitch allowed Braun to score and advanced Curiel to third. Cade Arrambide then singled to right field bringing Curiel home. The first inning came to an end with LSU leading, 2-1.

The Lions wasted little time retaking the lead. With two men on and two outs, Alex Perry smashed a three run homer over the left field wall to give SLU a 4-2 advantage.

LSU began the bottom of the second with Jack Ruckert leading off with a base on balls. William Patrick followed with a walk. Tanner Reaves flied out to right field, advancing Ruckert to third. Braun singled up the middle to score Ruckert. Patrick moved to third and Braun to second on the throw. Omar Serna grounded out, brining Patrick home to score. Curiel then doubled to right center to score Braun. The second inning ended with LSU leading, 5-4.

The Tigers added to their lead in the fifth when Derek Curiel blasted a solo home run over the right center field wall. 6-4, Fighting Tigers as we headed to the sixth inning.

Ruckert started the bottom of the sixth inning with a double to right center field. Patrick then grounded out to advance Ruckert to third. Reaves singled to center field to bring Ruckert home. LSU now lead, 7-4 as we headed to the seventh inning.

Curiel got things going in the seventh with a one out walk, then quickly stole second base. Arrambide was issued a base on balls. Steven Milam then singled up the middle, scoring Curiel and advancing Arrambide to second base. Daniel Harden walked to load the bases with only one out. Ruckert doubled down the right field line to plate two more runs for the Tigers. Patrick then grounded out to the pitcher to score Harden. Ruckert was also able to score on the play thanks to a throwing error. We headed to the eighth inning with LSU leading, 12-4.

Zion Theophilous entered the game in the ninth to finish off the Lions for the victory.

LSU improves to 25-21 with the win. Next up, the Tigers will host South Carolina for a three game SEC sreies. Game one will be on Friday, May 1 at 6:30pm.

STARKVILLE, MS - Mississippi State defeated LSU 13-8 on Sunday afternoon to complete the weekend sweep over the Fighting Tigers. A Fighting Tigers baseball team that at the moment is a pretty bad baseball team and in my opinion, has hit rock bottom. LSU led early in all three games this weekend against the Bulldogs, but fell apart with poor play late in each contest.

Marcos Paz started on the bump for the Bayou Bengals and went three innings, giving up three runs on two hits. He walked three and struck out two. Deven Sheerin (3-1) charged with the loss. LSU used eight different pitchers in the game and none were effective.

Just like on Friday and Saturday, LSU jumped out to an early lead. Mason Braun led off the game with a single to center field. Omar Serna was hit by a pitch, then Cade Arrambide homered down the right field line. 3-0 Tigers as we moved to the bottom of the first inning.

State answered in the bottom of the second. A walk and a single put two men on base with two outs. Ace Reese then homered to right field to tie the contest at 3-3.

The Fighting Tigers were able to retake the lead in the third. Arrambide lead off with a base on balls. Steven Milam stepped to the plate and blasted a two run homer over the right field wall. LSU now led, 5-3 as we headed to the bottom of the frame,.

In the fifth inning, LSU went into a complete meltdown. The pitching collapsed, the defense was poor and the offensive attack at the plate was nonexistent. Mississippi State smelled blood in the water and took full advantage. State score two runs in the fifth, four in the sixth, two in the seventh and two in the eighth to pull away from the Bayou Bengals for the convincing victory.

LSU now drops to 24-21 overall and 6-15 in conference play. Next Up the Tigers will host Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30pm.

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Catcher Kevin Milewski hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning Friday to lift No. 15 Mississippi State to a 10-8 win over LSU at Dudy Noble Field.

Mississippi State improved to 32-10 overall, 11-8 in the SEC, while LSU dropped to 24-19 overall and 6-13 in conference play.

The teams resume the series at 6:30 p.m. CT Saturday in a game that will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network and televised by ESPN2.

MSU reliever Dane Burns (2-0) was credited with the win, as he worked a scoreless top of the 11th inning with one walk and two strikeouts.

LSU reliever Zac Cowan (1-3) was charged with the loss, as he allowed two runs on two hits in 2.0 innings with one walk and two strikeouts.

“I’m proud of the team, we had four freshmen in the lineup tonight, and a lot of pitchers contributed, but we just didn’t do enough to win,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “The competitiveness, the fight, the care level with all we’ve gone through, I’m good with that. We need to play better, but I can live with this game tonight.”:

LSU scored three runs in the top of the first inning as catcher Omar Serna Jr. and shortstop Steven Milam lined RBI singles, and first baseman Mason Braun produced an RBI groundout.

Mississippi State responded by narrowing the gap to 3-2 in the bottom of the first when first baseman Blake Bevis launched a two-run homer,
his fifth dinger of the year.

Serna Jr.’s solo homer in the third – his fourth dinger of the year – increased the Tigers’ lead to 4-2.

Third baseman Ace Reese unloaded his 13th homer of the year for the Bulldogs to reduce the deficit to 4-3.

LSU extended its lead to 7-3 in the fourth when the Tigers capitalized on a pair of Mississippi State errors, and Milam delivered a two-run single.

The Bulldogs answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth when second baseman Gehrig Frei slapped an RBI single.

Mississippi State added a single run in the fifth on a home run by designated hitter Noah Sullivan, and then tied the game with two runs in the sixth without recording a base hit, taking advantage of a error, three walks, a hit batter and a wild pitch.

LSU regained the lead in the top of the ninth when rightfielder William Patrick delivered a two-out RBI single, but the Bulldogs tied the game at 8-8 in the bottom of the ninth on a two-out run-scoring single by shortstop Ryder Goodson.

Leftfielder Bryce Chance singled for Mississippi State with one out in the 11th, and after Cowan struck out Woodson for the second out, Milewski hit his eighth homer of the season to end the game.

OXFORD, MS - LSU's woes continued in Oxford on Sunday afternoon as the pitching struggled terribly and the bats remained ice cold as Ole Miss defeated the Bayou Bengals, 8-7 for the series sweep. The Tigers didn't record their first hit of the contest until the seventh inning. The seventh inning was LSU's only productive inning at the plate, but it wasn't enough.

Grant Fontenot got the start on the bump for LSU and didn't make it out of the first inning, giving up two runs on three hits with one walk. Marcos Paz (0-2) was charged with the loss.

Ole Miss wasted no time jumping all over Fontenot. Three singles and a walk led to two runs. Jay Johnson quickly went to his bull pen, bringing in Gavin Guidry with runners on second and third with one out. The Tigers were able to get the runner on third out in a run down. The Rebels now had runners on first and second with two outs. Guidry was able to get the Tigers back into the dug out without anymore damage done. Ole Miss led, 2-0 as we headed to the second inning.

The Rebels extended their lead in the second when Dom Decker blasted a solo homer over the left field wall. 3-0, Ole Miss as the second inning came to an end.

Ole Miss pounded Gavin Guidry in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on six hits, including three home runs. Santiago Garcia replaced Guidry with a runner on first and one out. Garcia quickly recorded the final two outs to send us to the fifth inning with Ole Miss now leading, 7-0.

LSU finally got on the. board when Derek Curiel hit a lead off home run to right field in the top of the seventh inning. Cade Arrambide stepped up next and smashed a solo homer over the left field wall. Jake Brown followed with a solo home run over the right field wall. With no outs, Omar Serna singled up the middle. Steven Milam singled to right center field. The LSU bats finally came to life with back to back to back home runs, then back to back singles. Mason Braun grounded out, but advanced Serna and Milam to second and third with one out. John Pearson struck out before Brayden Simpson singled to left field to score Serna and Milam. Edward Yamin singled to third base, advancing Simpson to third with two outs. Curiel singled down the right field line, scoring Simpson. With runners on the corners with two outs, a wild pitch would allow Yamin to score. Arrambide was issued a base on balls. Brown flied out to end the frame with LSU and Ole Miss all even at 7-7

Ole Miss answered, plating a huge run in the bottom of the seventh to regain the lead, 8-7.

The LSU bats went ice cold again in the eighth and ninth inning as the Rebels recorded the victory.

The Tigers are now, 22-15 overall and 6-9 in the SEC. Next up LSU will host Northwestern State on Tuesday, April 14 at 6:30pm.

This LSU team can't hit the baseball consistently enough to compete in the SEC. The pitchers can't find the strike zone. The fielding % by the defense is a terrible .963, last in the SEC and has committed 46 errors on the season.

OXFORD, MS - The Tigers looked to rebound from their disappointing loss to the Rebels on Friday night, instead they were embarrassed by Ole Miss in a 12-2 seventh inning run-rule defeat. After the second inning the LSU bats disappeared and the pitching was sadly erratic. This was a painful contest to watch if you were a LSU fan. The Bayou Bengals will try to avoid the sweep on Sunday afternoon.

William Schmidt (4-3) started on the bump and only went 3.2 innings, giving up four runs on three hits. He walked four and struck out seven. Schmidt was charged with the loss. LSU used seven different pitchers throughout the game. They all struggled.

The Tigers got on the board in the first inning. Derek Curiel started things with a two out walk. Cade Arrambide singled to right field. Steven Milam stepped up and doubled to the right field corner, brining Curiel home. With runners on second and third and two outs, John Pearson flied out to left field to end the LSU threat. We headed to the bottom of the opening frame with the Bayou Bnegals on top, 1-0.

Mason Braun led off the second with a single to right field. Omar Serna doubled to left center, advancing Braun to third. Chris Stanfield flied out to center field, brining Braun home and Serna moved up to third with two outs. Brown struck out, stranding a runner on thrid. We moved to the bottom of the second with LSU now up, 2-0.

Ole Miss finally got their bats going in the fourth inning, plating four runs to take a 4-2 advantage.

The LSU bull pen had no answer for Ole Miss, as the Rebels exploded to extended their lead to 12-2, plating one run in the fifth and seven in the sixth. There were no signs of a pulse coming from the LSU players. Bats were ice cold and the pitching was totally terrible.

With the loss, LSU falls to 22-14 overall and 6-8 in the SEC. Next, LSU will play Ole Miss in game three on Sunday, April 12 at 1:30pm.

Jake Brown launched a lead off homer over the right field wall in the bottom of the sixth inning. We moved to the seventh inning with LSU leading, 6-5.

You guessed it, LSU's shaky pitching allowed the Wildcats to score again in the top of the seventh. B-Cookman took advantage of terrible, inconsistent pitching from the LSU bull pen, putting up five runs to take a 10-6 advantage into the bottom of the seventh.

Braun led off the bottom of the seventh being hit by a pitch. Yamin singled to center field. Daniel Harden was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs.    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – LSU designated hitter Cade Arrambide set a school record with four home runs Sunday, leading the Tigers to a 16-6, 12-inning win over Tennessee at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

LSU improved to 22-11 overall, 6-6 in the SEC, while Tennessee dropped to 20-12 overall and 4-8 in conference play.

Arrambide was 5-for-6 on the day with four homers and seven RBI, establishing the LSU record for most home runs in a single game. His grand slam in the top of the 12th inning highlighted a 10-run LSU outburst that broke at 6-6 tie.

The Tigers return to action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when they play host to Bethune-Cookman in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. The game will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network and streamed on SEC Network +.

“That win is definitely up there in my coaching career,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “I mean, what a comeback by our team, I’m just so proud of our players. There were so many layers to what happened, and so many players making huge contributions to the win.

“What special performance by Cade Arrambide, and there were so many guys who made clutch plays. This is important to them, we’ve fought a lot here lately, and this is a great weekend for our program.”

LSU reliever Gavin Guidry (4-3) earned the win for the Tigers, working the final 5.1 innings and limiting Tennessee to one run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Volunteers reliever Brayden Krenzel (1-3) was charged with the loss, as he allowed the first run of the Tigers’ 12th inning.

Tennessee led 5-0 after scoring five unearned runs in the bottom of the third inning, capitalizing on three LSU errors. The outburst was highlighted by a grand slam from leftfielder Blaine Brown, marking his ninth homer of the year.

Arrambide launched a solo shot in the fifth inning, his fifth homer of the year, narrowing the deficit to 5-1.

The Tigers struck for three runs in the seventh on back-to-back-to-back solo home runs by third baseman John Pearson, by Arrambide and by second baseman Seth Dardar.

The sequence marked the first time that LSU homered in three straight plate appearances since May 9, 2023, when Tommy White, Cade Beloso and Hayden Travinski homered in consecutive at-bats against Northwestern State.

LSU tied the game in the top of the ninth when rightfielder Jake Brown provided a two-out RBI single.

The Tigers took a 6-5 lead in the top of the 11th when Arrambide blasted his third homer of the game, but Tennessee knotted the contest again when catcher Levi Clark delivered a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame.
