After defeating the Little Rock Cougars 7-0, The Tigers blanked the Patriots 12-0. “It was a good night for our team,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “I thought we played outstanding baseball tonight. Obviously it starts and ends on the mound. And Kade, as Kade has been all year, was the best pitcher on the planet tonight. And executed at a high level. Defense continued to support him, another game of zero in the error column.” Kade Anderson, projected to be the first pitcher off the board in the MLB draft, went 7 scoreless innings for LSU. Anderson struck out 11 Patriots and ran his total strikeouts on the year to 145, good for second in D1 baseball. Will Schmidt entered the game in the 9th inning and fanned 3 batters to ice the game. On offense, Ethan Frey kicked off the scoring in the home half of the first inning with a double to right field that scored Jake Brown and Daniel Dickinson. Chris Stanfield notched his first home run of the season in the second inning to increase the LSU lead to 3-0. Luis Hernandez laid down a sac bunt that scored Frey and Hernandez reached on error in the 3rd inning. Stanfield and Derek Curiel would each produce RBI singles in the 3rd to score Steven Milam and Hernandez, 6-0 Tigers. The Tigers added a run in the 5th on a ground ball by Stanfield that scored Milam, Milam would add another run in the 6th inning when he stole home. Frey also scored in the 6th off a Hernandez single, Frey would then unload a triple in the 8th and race home when Nathan Humphreys failed to secure the ball before the throw, 10-0 LSU. Ashton Larson let loose a sac fly that brought home Milam, and the Tigers capped off the scoring when Cade Arrambide came home on a wild pitch. DBU and Little Rock will play an elimination game at 2pm CST on Sunday. LSU will play the winner at 8pm CST. Da Boot Sports 5/30/2025 By: David Penn BATON ROUGE, LA - After hours of rain delays, the LSU Tigers took the field against the Little Rock Cougars and took their first step towards Omaha. “Good win for our team tonight,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “I’m proud of the players. It was a long day obviously working through the delay and all that, but we were ready to go. It was great to be back at home after a couple of weeks.” Junior Anthony Eyanson pitched 7.2 scoreless innings and earned the W for the Tigers. Eyanson fanned 7 Cougars, gave up 5 hits, and walked one. Eyanson improved to 10-2 on the season. “I just wanted to execute,” said Eyanson when asked about what he wanted to accomplish in Friday’s outing. “ I’m going to say that probably every interview. Honestly, I just wanted to execute, slow down in the moment. I’m super grateful for being on the mound. I just wanted to attack and compete, mentally be aggressive, and go after the other team.” On offense the Tigers were led by Daniel Dickinson who blasted a pair of home runs in his third and fourth at bats, collecting three RBIs for the evening. Derek Curiel led the Game off with a single and scored the game’s first run off Jake Brown’s single. Curiel also collected an RBI off of a double in the bottom of the sixth that scored Chris Stanfield. LSU will play Dallas Baptist, who won a scrappy 6-2 game vs Rhode Island, at 7pm CST. Rhode Island and Little Rock will play the elimination game at 2pm CST. Clemson did win its opening game in their regional 7-3 o ver USC Upstate. Ole Miss improved to 40-18 on the season and advance to play Vanderbilt in the tournament championship game at Noon CT Sunday. LSU dropped to 43-14, and the Tigers will open play Friday in the regional round of the NCAA Tournament. NCAA Regional sites will be announced at 7:30 p.m. CT Sunday, and the 64-team field will be revealed at 11 a.m. CT Monday in the selection show on ESPN2. “We’re really excited about playing home baseball next week, hopefully the next two weeks, and we'll get ready for that,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “Get home tonight, get a day off tomorrow, see the lay of the land on Monday and get right to work right after that. “I think our team, how they handled the schedule, the consistency in which they did, should play with great confidence going forward, and that's what I expect them to do.” Left-hander Gunnar Dennis (4-1), the second of four Rebel hurlers, was credited with the win as he worked 2.1 innings and allowed no hits with one walk and two strikeouts. LSU improved to 43-13 on the year, while Texas A&M dropped to 30-26 as the Aggies exited the single-elimination tournament. LSU, the tournament’s No. 3 seed, advances to the semifinal round at approximately 1:30 p.m. CT Saturday, when the Tigers will face No. 7 seed Ole Miss. No. seed Vanderbilt will face No. 8 seed Tennessee in the first semifinal game at 10 a.m. CT Saturday. Anderson (8-1) worked the first six innings Friday night, limiting the Aggies to three runs on four hits with one walk and 12 strikeouts. LSU concluded the regular season with a 42-13 overall record, 19-11 in the SEC, while South Carolina dropped to 28-28 overall and 6-24 in conference play. LSU is the No. 3 seed in the 2025 SEC Tournament and will play at approximately 6:30 p.m. CT Friday in Hoover, Ala., against an opponent to be determined. “I’m very proud of the team, we won seven of our 10 SEC series, and that’s a tremendous accomplishment,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “Our league is very difficult, and to be consistent is vital to having success. I thought we dealt with adversity well, we dealt with success well, and it was great to get this win today. “As we go forward into the postseason, we’re going to have to be able to close weekends out, so this was a good exercise. Weil COLUMBIA, SC - The #1 ranked Tigers traveled to South Carolina for their final regular season series on the season. Unfortunately the Tigers fell to South Carolina in game one on Thursday night, 6-5. Once again the LSU bullpen was unable to protect a lead. LSU went into the bottom of the ninth with a 5-4 lead, but the Gamecocks were able to plate two runs for the walk off victory. Zac Cowan (3-3) was the losing pitcher. Conner Ware started for the Tigers on the bump, but only last one inning, as he got in trouble early in the second inning, loading the bases with no outs. He allowed one run with four base on balls. The Tigers scored in the top of the first inning. Jared Jones hit a one out single up the middle. Daniel Dickinson then stepped to the plate and launched a two run homer over the left center field wall. LSU held a 2-0 lead as the contest moved to the second. South Carolina was able to plate a run in the bottom of the second after loading the bases. Jaden Noot replaced Ware on the mound and did a great job to get LSU out of the jam. LSU was able to plate a run in the top of the fifth to increase their lead to 3-1. The Gamecocks had a good inning at the plate in the sixth inning, plating two runs to tie the contest at 3-3. LSU regained the lead in the top of the eighth inning, plating two runs, taking a 5-3 advantage into the bottom of the frame. South Carolina battled back in the eighth, pushing a run across the plate, cutting the LSU lead to 5-4 as we headed to the ninth inning. With the loss LSU falls to 40-13 overall and 17-11 in SEC play. Next up LSU and USC will meet in game two of the series on Friday, May 16 at 6:00pm. Arkansas improved to 41-11 overall and 18-9 in the SEC, while LSU, which won the first two games of the weekend series over the Razorbacks, dropped to 40-12 overall and 17-10 in conference play. LSU returns to action at 6 p.m. CT Thursday when the Tigers open a three-game SEC series at South Carolina. Thursday’s game will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network and televised by the SEC Network. “Arkansas is really good with the arms they can run out there on a Sunday,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson, “but our guys did a pretty good job, too. There was tremendous value in today’s game in helping us determine a roadmap for winning in postseason play. Our guys fought and competed well today and all weekend against a very good team.” Arkansas reliever Dylan Carter (6-0) was credited with the win on Sunday as he limited LSU to two hits in 2.0 scoreless innings with one walk and two strikeouts. Arkansas, however, responded with four runs in the top of the third, as shortstop Wehiwa Aloy lifted a sacrifice fly, catcher Ryder Helfrick lined an RBI double, and second baseman Cam Kozeal delivered a two-run single. LSU narrowed the gap to 4-3 in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Hernandez, but Arkansas extended its lead to 5-3 in the fifth on an RBI groundout by first baseman Reese Robinett. The Tigers plated a run in the eighth when centerfielder Chris Stanfield contributed an RBI groundout, but Arkansas scored a pair of insurance runs in the ninth and held on for the win. The game was halted in the bottom of the seventh inning due to the SEC 10-run rule. LSU, which has won the first two games of the weekend series, improved to 40-11 overall, 17-9 in the SEC, while Arkansas dropped to 40-11 overall and 17-9 in conference play. The teams conclude the series at 3 p.m. CT Sunday in a game that will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network and televised by the SEC Network. Sunday’s game will mark the Tigers’ final regular-season home contest of the 2025 season. Brown was 3-for-5 at the plate Saturday with two homers, a run-scoring single and a career-best five RBI. LSU improved to 39-11 overall, 16-9 in the SEC, while Arkansas dropped to 40-10 overall and 17-8 in conference play. The game, originally scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. CT Friday, began at 9:55 p.m. due to heavy rain in the Baton Rouge area, and it concluded at 1:16 a.m. Saturday. The teams resume the series at 5:30 p.m. CT Saturday in a game that will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network and televised by the SEC Network. LSU first baseman Jared Jones led off the 10th inning with and he moved to second base on a wild pitch. Second baseman Daniel Dickinson’s groundout to first base advanced Jones to third. The Aggies recorded a 3-1 win Saturday in the opening game of the twin bill. LSU is 38-10 overall, 15-8 in the SEC, while Texas A&M is 26-20 overall and 9-14 in conference play. Eyanson (7-2) limited the Aggies to one run on three hits in 9.0 innings with one walk and 14 strikeouts, firing 112 pitches. “Everybody saw tonight that Anthony is one of the best pitchers in the country,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “This is a great environment, a hostile environment, but Anthony is a competitor. There was no way I was taking him out of that game. He dominated the pitch count throughout the outing.
