   BATON ROUGE, La. – The 2025 LSU baseball squad will conclude fall practice at 4 p.m. Friday with the Purple-Gold World Series intra-squad scrimmage.

   The scrimmage is open to the public in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field with free admission and parking.


   Gates to the stadium will open approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the scrimmage, and fans will be admitted through the Gate 2 home plate entrance.


   LSU opens the 2025 season on Friday, February 14, when the Tigers play host to Purdue Fort Wayne in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

   BATON ROUGE, La. – The 2025 LSU baseball squad will conduct intra-squad scrimmages this week at 4:30 p.m. Friday, 12 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday.

   LSU’s fall baseball intra-squad scrimmages are open to the public in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field with free admission and parking.


   Gates to the stadium will open approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of each scrimmage, and fans will be admitted through the Gate 2 home plate entrance.

   LAFAYETTE, La. – LSU split a pair of nine-inning exhibition games with UL Lafayette Sunday at Tigue Moore Field. The Tigers defeated the Cajuns, 9-4, in the first game, while UL Lafayette posted a 6-3 win in the second contest.

   LSU first baseman Jared Jones was 3-for-5 at the plate in Game 1 with two homers and five RBI.


   LSU grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth of the first game when Jones launched a solo homer to right field
before designated hitter Jake Brown doubled and later scored on a Cajuns throwing error.


   After the Cajuns scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers extended the advantage to 6-1 when Jones unloaded a grand slam to left field.


   A two-run homer by third baseman Michael Braswell III and a solo dinger by centerfielder Chris Stanfield in consecutive at-bats gave the Tigers a 9-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning.


   Junior right-hander Gavin Guidry and freshman right-hander William Schmidt sparked the Tigers’ pitching effort in Game 1, as each fired two scoreless innings. Guidry started the game and worked 2.0 innings with two hits, no walks and two strikeouts.


   Schmidt pitched the final two innings of the contest and allowed no hits with one walk and one strikeout.


   Game 2 for LSU was highlighted by the pitching of junior left-hander Conner Ware and freshman right-hander Casan Evans.


   Ware started the third inning and pitched two perfect frames with five strikeouts, needing only 30 pitches.


   Evans entered the nightcap in the seventh inning and blanked the Cajuns through two innings with no hits, one walk and five strikeouts.


   Rightfielder Ashton Larson and designated hitter Luis Hernandez each produced two hits and one RBI to pace the Tigers’ Game 2 offense.


   LSU will continue its fall practice session through Saturday, November 23, with a series of intra-squad scrimmages.

   BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU will conduct baseball intra-squad scrimmages at 3 p.m. CT Friday and 11:30 a.m. CT Saturday in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field, and the Tigers will play an exhibition versus UL Lafayette at Noon CT Sunday at Tigue Moore Field in Lafayette, La.

   The intra-squad scrimmages on Friday and Saturday at Alex Box Stadium are open to the general public with free admission. Gates to the stadium will open 15 minutes prior to first pitch, and fans will be admitted through the Gate 2 home plate entrance.


   Free parking is available in the Alex Box Stadium lots on Friday; however, fans attending Saturday’s baseball scrimmage will be asked to park in one of the free lots along Gourrier Avenue due to the LSU-Alabama football game in Tiger Stadium.


 Tickets for Sunday’s exhibition at UL Lafayette are $10 and may be purchased online at RaginCajuns.com/tickets. The Tigers and Cajuns will play two nine-inning games on Sunday beginning at Noon CT.

   BILOXI, Miss. – LSU defeated Samford, 20-6, in a 21-inning baseball exhibition scrimmage Sunday at Keesler Federal Park, the home of the Milwaukee Brewers’ Double-A affiliate, the Biloxi Shuckers.

   The scrimmage consisted of three seven-inning games, and the Tigers outscored Samford, 4-3, in the first game, 7-2 in the second game and 9-1 in the third game.


   LSU will play its second exhibition scrimmage of the fall at 12 p.m. CT next Sunday, November 10, when the Tigers travel to Lafayette, La., to face UL Lafayette at Tigue Moore Field.


   “With our team having 26 new players, just being on the road and finding ways to get connected from a team standpoint is really important,” LSU coach Jay Johnson said after Sunday’s scrimmage versus Samford. “On the field, we’re just trying to execute what we’ve learned in the fall to this point. We’re not really ready to play a game yet, but we’re looking to carry on what we’ve worked on and build a foundation moving forward.


   “It’s about finding this team’s brand of baseball, and today’s scrimmage showed that it’s pretty solid. The quality of the strikes that our pitchers threw and the ability to mix in high-end stuff was impressive. Combine that with the offense’s ability to execute, which was great today. I was really pleased with the execution and the at-bats.”


   In the opening seven-inning game, starting pitcher Chase Shores worked 3.1 innings and limited the Bulldogs to one run on one hit with one walk and five strikeouts. Shores, a redshirt sophomore from Midland, Texas, is returning to the LSU rotation after missing last season due to Tommy John surgery.


   The LSU offense in the opener was highlighted by two RBI from catcher Luis Hernandez. He produced a run-scoring single in the first inning, and his RBI groundout in the third scored leftfielder Derek Curiel from third base. Curiel led off the frame with a double and moved to third on first baseman Jared Jones’ flyout to center.


   The Tigers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second inning of Game 2 as outfielder Dalton Beck delivered an RBI single and outfielder Ashton Larson lifted a sacrifice fly. LSU increased the advantage to 4-0 in the fifth on a two-run double by outfielder Mic Paul.


   Holding a 4-2 lead in the seventh, the Tigers added three runs as infielder John Pearson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Beck scored from third base on a wild pitch, and infielder Trevor Schmidt smacked an RBI single.


   LSU’s victory in Game 3 featured superb pitching from three true freshmen – right-hander William Schmidt, left-hander Cooper Williams and right-hander Mavrick Rizy.


Schmidt fired three scoreless innings and Rizy struck out five Samford batters in two innings of work.
