LSU will try to avoid being swept on Sunday. Anthony Eyanson (5-1) started on the bump for LSU. He pitched five innings, giving up four runs on six hits. He struck out five and walked one. LSU left two runners stranded in the top of the first. In the top of the second, Steven Milam launched a one out solo homer over the left field wall, putting LSU up, 1-0 as we head to the third. The Auburn bats got hot in the bottom of the fourth as they pushed two runs across home plate to take the lead, 2-1. Auburn added two more runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 4-1. LSU got things going in the eighth. Josh Pearson led it off with a single up the middle. After Larson flied out, Milam singled to left field, advancing Pearson to third base. Tanner Reaves singled to left field to bring Pearson home. Stanfield flied out, moving Milam to third, putting runners on the corners with two outs for the Bayou Bengals. But LSU would leave them stranded. That makes 11 players left on base for LSU on the night. The contest moved to the bottom of the frame with Auburn ahead, 4-2. LSU’s bats would go cold again in the ninth inning, as Auburn would win the series. The Tigers are now 31-5 overall and 10-4 in SEC play. Next up LSU will play game three against Auburn on Sunday.
