FLORIDA SWEEPS TIGERS, 15-11

   BATON ROUGE, LA - The Florida Gators took out the brooms and got the sweep over LSU on Saturday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium/ Skip Bertman Field in front of 11, 036 Tiger fans to end the regular season. 

   Zac Cowan got the start on the bump and only went three innings, giving up four runs on seven hits. He struck out four. Once again, Jay Johnson used several pitchers in the contest, but none were effective against strong SEC competition. Grant Fontenot (2-0) was charged with the loss. 

   Florida's Cade Kurland led off the third inning with a homer over the left field wall. The Gators pushed two more runs across the plate, taking a
​3-0 advantage into the bottom of the frame. 

​   In the bottom of the third, Cade Arrambide launched a two out, solo home run over the right center field wall. 3-1, Florida as we moved to the fourth inning. 

   The Gators answered quickly in the top of the fourth, plating a run to extend their lead back to three, 4-1. 

   LSU cut into Florida's lead in the fifth. After Steven Milam fouled out, Derek Curiel singled up the middle. Arrambide stepped to the plate and smashed a home run to center field. Mason Braun then doubled to right center, before Seth Dardar singled to bring him home. After five inning the contest was even at 4-4.

   Florida again bounced back quickly. With a man on base and one out, Hayden Yost hit a two run homer to right field, giving the Gators the lead back, 6-4 in the top of the sixth. 

   The Gators added a three insurance runs in the eighth inning, increasing their lead to, 9-4.

   LSU battled back in the bottom of the eighth. Simpson led off with a double to left field. After Yorke and Stanfield both struck out, Yamin was hit by a pitch. Milam then singled to center field, scoring Simpson and advancing Yamin to second. Curiel was issued a base on balls to load the bases. Arrambide came through with a single to third base, scoring Yamin and moving the other runners up. Braun singled to left field, bringing home Milam and Curiel. We headed to the ninth with Florida leading, 9-8. 

   Florida flexed their muscles in the ninth, scoring six runs, extending the lead to 15-8, as the LSU relief pitching continued to sputter badly. 

   LSU plated three runs in their final at bat for the game's final margin. 

   LSU finishes the regular season, 29-27 overall and 9-21 in SEC play. Next, the Tigers will travel to Hoover, Alabama for the SEC Tournament. They will play on Tuesday, May 19 at 8:00pm. The opponent is TBA later today.
