Da Boot Sports 5/14/2026 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - No. 9 Florida came into Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field and defeated LSU, 11-8 in game one of their SEC series. LSU pitchers struggled all night, giving up 14 free passes at the plate. Danny Lachenmayer got the start on the bump on Thursday night and had a terrible outing. He was unable to make it out of the first inning, giving up six runs on four hits. He walked three and struck out one. Lachenmayer (2-1) was charged with the loss. LSU used seven pitchers in the contest. The Gators jumped all over Lachenmayer in the first inning. Back to back singles, followed by a base on balls, loaded the bases with no outs. Ethan Surowiec then blasted a grand slam over the right field wall. A double and back to back walks loaded the bases again, this time with two outs, forcing Jay Johnson to go to his bullpen very early in the contest. Reagan Ricken entered the game and immediately gave up a single allowing the Gators to plate two more runs. We headed to the bottom of the first with Florida leading, 6-0. LSU got things going in the bottom of the third. Chris Stanfield singled to the shortstop. Mason Braun singled up the middle, moving Stanfield to third. Stanfield was then able to score on a wild pitch. Braun advanced to second on the play. Omar Serna grounded out to move Braun to third with one out. Derek Curiel doubled down the right field line, bringing Braun home. Cade Arrambide then stepped to the plate and singled to center field to score Curiel. Florida was able to turn a double play to get back into the dug out. As we moved to the fourth inning, Florida now led, 6-3. The Gators were able to plate a run in the fourth, increasing their advantage to 7-3. Florida added another run in the top of the fifth. 8-3, Gators. Steven Milam hit a solo home run in the sixth inning, cutting the Gator lead to, 8-4. A sloppy pitching job by DJ Primeaux in the seventh allowed Florida to add two more runs to their lead. 10-4, Gators. Florida plated another run in the top of the eighth, increasing their lead to 11-4. In the eighth Omar Serna Jr. launched a solo home run and the Tigers loaded the bases but only plated one more run out of the opportunity. 11-6, Gators as we headed to the ninth.
