Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU returned to conference play as they hosted Alabama and earn an 11-6 come from behind victory on Thursday night. Kade Anderson started on the bump for the Tigers and went 5.2 innings. He gave up five runs on six hits. He struck out ten. Casan Evans (2-0) got the win and Zac Cowan registered his fifth save of the season. Alabama took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Kade Snell hit a solo homer off of Anderson. The Crimson Tide extended their lead in the third when former Tiger Brady Neal homered to left center field. A solo shot to give Bama a 2-0 advantage. LSU got on the score board in the bottom of the third. Chris Stanfield hit a one out double to left center. Derek Curiel then doubled to the right field corner to score the speedy Stanfield. 2-1 Bama as we moved to the fourth. In the sixth inning, Kade Snell hit his second home run of the night, this time it was a two run shot over the left field wall. Richie Bonomolo Jr. followed with a solo homer to the left field bleachers. 5-1, Alabama as we headed to the bottom of the frame. Jake Brown drew a one out walk. Josh Pearson then singled to right field. Ashton Larson stepped to the plate and blasted a three run homer to right field. 5-4 Bama as the contest moved to the seventh inning. LSU took their first lead of the night in the bottom of the seventh. With runners on second and third with one out, Steven Milam blasted a homer over the right field wall. Jake Brown then singled. Josh Pearson reached on a field’s choice, but a throwing error by Bama allowed Brown to come home and score. 8-5, LSU as we headed to the eighth. The Tigers increased their lead in the eighth. Curiel led off with a single to center field. Ethan Frey then hit a home run over the right field wall. LSU plated one more run to take an 11-5 lead into the ninth inning. Bama was able to plate a garbage run in the ninth. With the win, the Tigers are now 33-6 over all and 11-5 in the SEC. Next up, LSU will play Alabama on Friday. First pitch is set for 6:00pm.
