Da Boot Sports 2/16/2026 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU beat a good Kent State team Monday night at the Box, 10-7 in front of 10,928 Tiger fans. Jaden Noot got the start on the bump for the Tigers and went three innings, giving up three runs on three hits, while walking three and striking out four. Ethan Plog and Deven Sheerin each pitched a solid inning in the contest. Jay Johnson ended up using seven pitchers on the night. Ethan Plog (1-0) got the win and Gavin Guidry earned his first save of the season. Mavrick Rizy, DJ Primeaux and Grant Fontenot each made short appearances. The Tigers got on the scoreboard in the first inning on a two out, solo home run to right center field by Jake Brown. We moved to the second with LSU up, 1-0. LSU extended their lead in the second. Seth Dardar drew a one out base on balls. Tanner Reaves executed a beautiful bunt to get on base. Reaves and Dardar then moved up on a wild pitch. Mason Braun stepped to the plate and launched a homer to left field. 4-0, Tigers as we headed to the third inning. Kent State answered in the top of the third. Noot gave up a single, then issued a base on balls. Sawyer Solit then blasted a three run homer to left field, cutting LSU's lead to 4-3. In the bottom of the frame, Jake Brown remained blazing hot as he hit a solo homer to dead center field. Yorke then singled to right field, then moved to second on a wild pitch. Dardar walked. Caraway stepped to the plate and singled to center field, scoring Yorke and moving Dardar to third. Reaves then doubled to the left field corner, scoring Dardar and advancing Caraway to third. Braun walked to load the bases with two outs. Derek Curiel grounded out to end the inning. 7-3 as we headed to the fourth inning. Ethan Plog replaced Noot on the bump to start the fourth and did a great job of getting LSU back into the dugout quickly. Steven Milam led off the bottom of the fourth being hit by a pitch, then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jake Brown grounded out, moving Milam to third.. Arrambide then singled to left field to score Milam. Yorke reached first on a fielder's choice and Arrambide was able to advance to third on a throwing error. Dardar walked to load the bases with only one out. But the Tigers would leave the bases loaded for the second time in the contest. We headed to the fifth inning with LSU leading, 8-3. LSU plated another run in the bottom of the fifth to increase their advantage to 9-3. Zack Yorke led off the bottom of the sixth with a monster home run to right field. LSU took a 10-3 lead into the seventh. With the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, Brody Williams hit a double to the left field corner to clear the bases. The Golden Flashes plated another run to pull closer to the Tigers. 10-7, LSU as we moved to the bottom of the frame. Gavin Guidry entered the game late in the seventh inning and shut down Kent State the rest of the night. With the win, LSU improves to 4-0.
