Da Boot Sports 3/8/2025 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The Tigers return to the diamond to play game two against North Alabama on Saturday afternoon at the Box and took down the Lions, 6-2. Anthony Eyanson started on the mound for LSU and had a great day. He pitched 7 innings, giving up two runs on two hits. He walked two and struck out 15. The Lions drew first blood in the top of the first. Nash Rippen started things with a one out walk. Matthew Delgado then doubled down the left field line, scoring Rippen from first. Petey Craska singled up the middle to plate another run. Eyanson managed to get his third strike out of the inning to get LSU back into the dugout. We moved to the bottom of the frame with North Alabama leading, 2-0. In the bottom of the first, Jared Jones hit a one out double off of the top of the center field wall. Daniel Dickinson flied out to center field to advance Jones to third. Ethan Frey then doubled to center field, bringing Jones home. Next, Steven Milam drew a base on balls. Jake Brown flied out to center field to end the inning. LSU would leave two men on base as we headed to the second inning with the Lions leading, 2-1. Derek Curiel started the bottom of the third with a single up the middle. Jared Jones then hit his second double of the day, moving Curiel to third. Runners at second and third with no outs. Dickinson struck out then Frey popped out. Curiel was able to come home on a throwing error by the second baseman. The inning came to a close with the score all even at 2-2. Chris Stanfield started the bottom of the fifth with a leadoff walk. Curiel then doubled to left center field, scoring the speedy Stanfield. Jared Jones stepped to the plate and blasted a two run homer over the left field wall. The contest headed to the sixth inning with LSU now up, 5-2. Zac Cowan entered the game to pitch in the top of the eighth and got the Tigers back into the dugout with no issues. The bottom of the eighth began with back to back walks to Milam and Josh Pearson. Hernandez made it to first on a successful bunt attempt to load the bases. After Braswell struck out looking, Stanfield put down a nice bunt that scored Milam. But Pearson was tagged out trying to score for the second out of the inning. LSU now had runners on first and second with two outs. Curiel would strikeout to leave two men on. We headed to the top of the ninth with LSU leading, 6-2. Cowan was able to finish the off the game to earn the save, his first of the season. Eyanson was the winning pitcher to improve to 3-0 on the season. LSU improves to 15-1. Next up, the Tigers will play North Alabama again on Sunday at 1:00 pm as they will look to sweep the series.
