Da Boot Sports 5/19/2026 By: Terrill J. Weil HOOVER, AL - LSU snapped their six game losing streak in Hoover as they defeated Oklahoma, 6-2 on Tuesday night. Grant Fontenot got the start on Tuesday night for the Bayou Bengals and 2.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits. He walked one and struck out one. Gavin Guidry (5-3) got the win and Deven Sheerin recorded his fifth save of the season. LSU was able to take the lead in the top of the third. Omar Serna got it started with a one out walk. Derek Curiel singled to left field. A fielding error by Oklahoma allowed Serna to round the bases and score. Curiel was able to advance to second on the play. The single run was all the Tigers could manage. We headed to the bottom of the frame with LSU leading, 1-0. Oklahoma responded in the bottom of the third, plating a run to tie the contest. A fielding error, a wild pitch and a throwing error, led to another Oklahoma run in the bottom of the fourth. 2-1, Sooners as we moved to the fifth. LSU responded in the top of the fifth. Mason Braun led it off being hit by a pitch. Serna singled to left field. Curiel stepped to the plate and doubled down the left field line, scoring Braun and advancing Serna to third. Steven Milam then reached safely on a fielder's choice. A throwing error by the Sooners's third baseman allowed Serna and Curiel to score. LSU now led 4-2 as the top of the fifth ended. The Tigers were able to extend their lead in the eighth inning. With two outs, Arrambide singled up the middle. Monster Milam then homered to right field. LSU now led, 6-2 as we moved to the bottom of the frame. Deven Sheerin took care of the Sooner hitters in the ninth to earn victory for LSU.
