Da Boot Sports 9/4/2025 Article Courtesy of Crescent City Sports By: Ken Trahan Jay Johnson of LSU is becoming the highest paid coach in college baseball. Needless to say, he has earned it. With a new deal that will pay him approximately $3.05 million annually through 2032, Johnson can also make significantly more with bonus incentives. The pay for Johnson will increase over the duration of the deal to the point where he is scheduled to make $3.65 million by the final year of the deal in 2032. The LSU board of supervisors is expected to approve the deal Friday. Last season, Johnson reportedly was the fourth-highest paid coach in the SEC. The annual salary surpasses Tennessee coach Tony Vitello’s deal which pays him $3 million per season and runs through the 2029 season. It is the second contract addition for Johnson, who has won two national championships in four seasons with the Tigers. Johnson previously received a new deal following LSU winning the national championship in 2023. In addition, Johnson’s two top assistant coaches, Josh Jordan and Josh Simpson, will receive new, enhanced contracts. John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life.
