 Photo By: Michael Bacigalupi Da Boot Sports 5/30/2025 By: David Penn BATON ROUGE, LA - After hours of rain delays, the LSU Tigers took the field against the Little Rock Cougars and took their first step towards Omaha. “Good win for our team tonight,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “I’m proud of the players. It was a long day obviously working through the delay and all that, but we were ready to go. It was great to be back at home after a couple of weeks.” Junior Anthony Eyanson pitched 7.2 scoreless innings and earned the W for the Tigers. Eyanson fanned 7 Cougars, gave up 5 hits, and walked one. Eyanson improved to 10-2 on the season. “I just wanted to execute,” said Eyanson when asked about what he wanted to accomplish in Friday’s outing. “ I’m going to say that probably every interview. Honestly, I just wanted to execute, slow down in the moment. I’m super grateful for being on the mound. I just wanted to attack and compete, mentally be aggressive, and go after the other team.” On offense the Tigers were led by Daniel Dickinson who blasted a pair of home runs in his third and fourth at bats, collecting three RBIs for the evening. Derek Curiel led the Game off with a single and scored the game’s first run off Jake Brown’s single. Curiel also collected an RBI off of a double in the bottom of the sixth that scored Chris Stanfield. LSU will play Dallas Baptist, who won a scrappy 6-2 game vs Rhode Island, at 7pm CST. Rhode Island and Little Rock will play the elimination game at 2pm CST. Clemson did win its opening game in their regional 7-3 o ver USC Upstate.
