 Photo By: LSUsports.net Da Boot Sports 4/26/2026 By: Terrill J. Weil STARKVILLE, MS - Mississippi State defeated LSU 13-8 on Sunday afternoon to complete the weekend sweep over the Fighting Tigers. A Fighting Tigers baseball team that at the moment is a pretty bad baseball team and in my opinion, has hit rock bottom. LSU led early in all three games this weekend against the Bulldogs, but fell apart with poor play late in each contest. Marcos Paz started on the bump for the Bayou Bengals and went three innings, giving up three runs on two hits. He walked three and struck out two. Deven Sheerin (3-1) charged with the loss. LSU used eight different pitchers in the game and none were effective. Just like on Friday and Saturday, LSU jumped out to an early lead. Mason Braun led off the game with a single to center field. Omar Serna was hit by a pitch, then Cade Arrambide homered down the right field line. 3-0 Tigers as we moved to the bottom of the first inning. State answered in the bottom of the second. A walk and a single put two men on base with two outs. Ace Reese then homered to right field to tie the contest at 3-3. The Fighting Tigers were able to retake the lead in the third. Arrambide lead off with a base on balls. Steven Milam stepped to the plate and blasted a two run homer over the right field wall. LSU now led, 5-3 as we headed to the bottom of the frame,. In the fifth inning, LSU went into a complete meltdown. The pitching collapsed, the defense was poor and the offensive attack at the plate was nonexistent. Mississippi State smelled blood in the water and took full advantage. State score two runs in the fifth, four in the sixth, two in the seventh and two in the eighth to pull away from the Bayou Bengals for the convincing victory. LSU now drops to 24-21 overall and 6-15 in conference play.
