Da Boot Sports 3/8/2026 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU looked to rebound from their disappointing 5-4 loss to Sacramento State on Saturday, but things were no better for the Tigers on Sunday as they lost to the Hornets, 6-1. This LSU baseball team is in a major slump. A nightmarish slump that none of us could of ever imagined. They have lost five of their last nine games. Four of their last five. The bats are totally dead and the pitching is super shaky. No emotion, no spark, no leadership. It's like a ship lost at sea with no lighthouse on the horizon to guide them to safety. All we can do is hope these Bayou Bengals can snap out of this terrible funk very soon with SEC play right around the corner. William Schmidt (3-1) started on the bump and went 5.2 innings, giving up four runs on four hits. He struck out nine and was charged with the loss. The Hornets got on the scoreboard first. In the top of the third, they plated two runs, one unearned to take a 2-0 lead as we headed to the fourth. In the sixth inning the Hornets plated three more runs to increase their lead to 5-0 as we moved to the bottom of the frame. The LSU bats remained lifeless, as the Bayou Bengals could only manage a single run in the seventh. Sacramento State responded by pushing another run across the plate in the eighth for the game's final margin. With the loss, LSU falls to 12-5. Next up, the Tigers will host Creighton on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30pm at the Box. **We have our baseball/basketball edition of 'Talking Tigers with Da Boot Sports' live on our YouTube channel, Monday night at 8pm.
