Weil NORMAN, OK - No. 7 LSU traveled to Norman to take on the 10th ranked Oklahoma Sooners in another big SEC series and came away with a 2-0 in game one on Thursday night. Kade Anderson (6-0) took the bump for his usual Friday start and was fantastic, pitching a complete game, giving up no runs, on five hits. He walked two batters and had a career high 14 strikeouts. In the first inning, LSU went three up, three down quickly. Oklahoma then threatened in the bottom of the frame, loading the bases with only one out. Anderson did a great job to get the Tigers out of the first inning with no damaged done. The Tigers got on the scoreboard in the top of the third. With two outs, Derek Curiel hit a double to left field. Jared Jones then singled to right field to score Curiel. We moved to the bottom of the frame with LSU now leading, 1-0. LSU added to their lead in the fifth. Luis Hernandez led off with a double to right center. Tanner Reeves grounded out, moving Hernandez to third. Chris Stanfield then doubled down the right field line to plate the run. The contest moved on to the sixth inning with the Bayou Bengals now up, 2-0. With the win, LSU improves to 28-3 overall and 8-2 in SEC play. Next up, both teams will play game two of the series on Friday.
