BATON ROUGE, LA - The LSU Fighting Tigers have hired their new football head coach. It's Lane Kiffin. Kiffin has spend the last six season's as the head coach for the Ole Miss Rebels where is has a record of 55-19 overall and 32-17 in the SEC. His overall record as a college head coach is 117-53 over 14 years.

Kiffin led the Rebels to an 11-1 season in 2025, a school record for most wins in a season. It has also been reported that Ole Miss officials will not allow Kiffin to coach the Rebels in the CFP.

It is reported that LSU will pay their new coach around $12 million annually over seven seasons. Lane Kiffin is the 33rd head coach in LSU Football History.

Kiffin will need to hit the ground running, deciding who on the LSU staff he will retain, if any, while already planning on bringing several of his staff members from Oxford.

The early signing period for the incoming high school class is December 3-5. He will also need to meet with current LSU players to discuss their future with the program.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Kiffin as the next head coach of the LSU Football program,” Verge Ausberry said. “We shared when we began this search that LSU would secure the best coach in the country and Lane Kiffin is just that. Lane is a proven winner who has thrived in an era of college athletics that requires coaches to adapt and innovate. His passion, creativity and authenticity make him the ideal leader to guide LSU into the future and consistently position us among the sport’s elite. I want to welcome Lane and his family to Baton Rouge, and I’d like to thank our search committee, as well as our university and state leadership, for their critical support and counsel throughout this process.”

LSU will hold an official press conference on Monday to introduce Lane Kiffin as the new head coach of the Bayou Bengals.

      LANE KIFFIN QUOTE::

“I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to lead the storied LSU Football program,” Kiffin said. “From national championships to iconic players, LSU is synonymous with excellence and is among the most powerful brands in all of sports. I’m grateful to President Rousse, Verge Ausberry and LSU’s leadership for placing their faith in me to lead this program. Our staff will recruit the very best student-athletes in the country – starting at home in the state of Louisiana – and will work tirelessly every day to bring championships that the LSU fans deserve. Geaux Tigers!”

NORMAN, OK - LSU traveled to Oklahoma for the first time ever to take on the 8th ranked Sooners in the 2025 regular season finale and unfortunately fell in a close, competitive game, 17-13.

Once again, LSU's offense was lifeless through most of the day, sputtering badly against a very good Oklahoma defense. The Tiger defense played a fantastic game, except for two huge break downs in the secondary that allowed Oklahoma to score two touchdowns. The Tigers managed only 198 yards of total offense while giving up 393 to the Sooners.

Michael Van Buren, who struggled most of the day, finished 14-25 for 96 yards with a touchdown and a very costly interception. Caden Durham led the team in rushing with 42 yards on six carries. Zavion Thomas was LSU's leading receiver with three catches for 30 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Davhon Keys led the way with 8 tackles. AJ Haulcy, Harold Perkins and DJ Pickett each had an interception.

On Oklahoma's first offensive possession of the game, while facing third and six at their own 46, John Mateer was intercepted by Harold Perkins Jr. who returned the ball to the Sooners' four yard line.

LSU however, failed to capitalize on the turnover. On the very next play, first and goal from the four, Michael Van Buren was intercepted in the end zone by Peyton Bowen, killing the LSU scoring threat.

The Sooners drew first blood, driving 53 yards in 11 plays before having to settle for a Tate Sandell 38 yard field goal. With 4:31 left in the first quarter, Oklahoma led, 3-0.

LSU responded with a six play, 42 yard drive, culminating with a Damian Ramos 24 yard field goal. 3-3 at the 13:35 mark of the second quarter. The Tigers had help on the drive with two huge Oklahoma defensive penalties. (face mask & roughing the passer).

Both defenses dominated the remainder of the first half as the contest went into the halftime break, all even at 3-3.

Oklahoma took the second half kickoff and drove into LSU territory. With it first and ten at the LSU 38, Mateer was intercepted by AJ Haulcy who returned the ball 42 yards to the Oklahoma 33 yard line.

LSU quickly moved 33 yards in four plays to take their first lead of the contest. A 23 yard run by Michal Van Buren set the Tigers up first and goal at the one. On the next play, Van Buren hit Zavion Thomas on a swing pass that went into the end zone for the score. 10-3, LSU with 11:21 left in the third quarter.

It looked like Oklahoma would answer LSU's score, as they drove 47 yards on eight plays. But on third and seven at the LSU 28, John Mateer was intercepted by DJ Pickett at the Tigers' seven yard line to end the scoring threat.

After both teams exchanged punts, Oklahoma made their biggest offensive plays of the game. On second and ten at the LSU 45, John Mateer hit Deion Burks for a 45 yard touchdown to tie the game at 10-10 with 1:47 left in the third.

The Tigers managed one of their best drives of the day, moving 42 yards in seven plays, but the Bayou Bengals shot themselves in the foot to stall the drive. Damian Ramos hit a 43 yard field goal to put LSU back in the lead, 13-10 with 7:56 remaining in the contest.

Oklahoma made another explosive play, taking advantage of a huge break down in the LSU secondary. On first and ten at the Sooners' 42, Mateer found a very very wide open Isaiah Sategna for a 58 yard touchdown to give Oklahoma a 17-13 lead with only 4:16 remaining.

LSU's Barion Brown returned the kickoff 47 yards to mid-field to start the Tigers final drive of the game. LSU drove to the Sooners' 32 yard line but ended up turning the ball over on downs.

LSU finishes the season 7-5 overall and 3-5 in SEC play. Now the Tigers will wait for their bowl game destination. More importantly, waiting for the hire of their new head coach!

BATON ROUGE, LA - It was Senior Night for the LSU football team and the Tigers honored 28 seniors before kickoff, then went on to defeat the Hilltoppers, 13-10 in front of 100,923 Tiger fans in Death Valley on Saturday night.

This was a very ugly performance by the LSU offense, while the defense completely shut down the Hilltoppers in the second half with dominating play. The Tiger defense held Western Kentucky to only three points and a total of 152 yards on the night. Only 57 total yards in the second half. LSU, sputtered on offense all night long, finishing with 328 total yards of offense. 126 on the ground and 202 passing. They were simply out of sync all night.

Michael Van Buren finished the night going, 25-42 for 202 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Harlem Berry led the team in rushing with 80 yards on 18 carries. Zavion Thomas had a solid night receiving for the Tigers, catching six passes for 47 yards. Trey'Dez Green had 45 yard and a touchdown on six grabs.

Davhon Keys led the defense with ten tackles. AJ Haulcy had nine tackles and West Weeks finished with seven tackles on the night. The defense registered five sacks and intercepted two passes. The LSU defense saved the game on a night when the offense struggled terribly.

The Hilltoppers took the opening kickoff and drove 57 yards in nine plays before the drive stalled at the LSU 18. John Cannon kicked a 36 yard field goal to give Western Kentucky a 3-0 lead with 11:43 left in the first quarter.

The Tigers sputtered badly on offense in the first quarter. Then on their third possession of the contest, Michael Van Buren threw an interception at the WKU 41 yard line. The ball was returned to mid-field where the Hilltoppers would take over with 14:37 left in the first half.

LSU finally got on the scoreboard late in the second quarter. The Tigers drove 62 yards in eight plays, culminating with an 11 yard touchdown pass from Michael Van Buren to Trey'Dez Green. 7-3, LSU with 1:32 left in the first half.

The LSU defense really raised their level of play in the second half, shutting down the Hilltoppers almost completely and collecting their first turnover of the contest. On second and ten at the Western Kentucky 15, West Weeks tipped a Rodney Tisdale pass into the air that came down into the arms of DJ Pickett for the interception at the Hilltoppers' 25 yard line.

The Tigers' offense continued to struggle, failing to score a touchdown after driving to the Western Kentucky one yard line. Damian Ramos kicked an 18 yard field goal to extend the Bayou Bengals' lead to 10-3 with 5:55 left in the third quarter.

On the next Western Kentucky offensive possession, PJ Woodland intercepted another Rodney Tisdale pass at the LSU 45 yard line. But the LSU offense couldn't take advantage of the turnover, punting the ball back to the Hilltoppers with 2:11 left in the third quarter.

The Tigers managed to score again early in the fourth quarter, driving 40 yards in ten plays. LSU settled for a Damian Ramos 29 yard field goal after the drive stalled at the Western Kentucky 12 yard line.

With 1:16 left in the contest and LSU attempting to run out the clock, Harlem Berry fumbled at the Western Kentucky 30 yard line. Jordan Donald scopped up the ball for the Hilltoppers and raced 71 yards for a touchdown. 13-10, LSU with 1:05 left on the clock.

LSU recovered the on-side kick and finally ran the clock out for the ugly victory.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 7-4 overall. Next up, LSU will travel to Norman, Oklahoma to play the Sooners on Saturday, November 29. Kickoff is set for 2:30 pm CST. The game will be televised on ABC.

LSU answered, driving 55 yards in nine plays before settling for a Damian Ramos 37 yards fiedl goal. 3-3 with 12:27 left in the first half.

Alabama retook the lead on their next possession, driving 75 yards in seven plays, culminating with a four yard touchdown run by Daniel Hill. 10-3, Bama with 9:25 left in the second quarter.

The Crimson Tide increased their lead on a 13 yard touchdown pass from Ty Simpsom to Ryan Williams. The scoring play, ended a three play, 66 yard drive. 17-3 Bama as we headed to halftime.

LSU took the second half kickoff and methodically moved the ball deep into Alabama territory, then began shooting themselves in the foot, eventually having to settle for a 44 yard field goal by Damian Ramos. 17-6, with 8:54 left in the third.

Micahel Van Buren replaced Nussmeier on LSU's next drive. After a couple of first downs the drive stalled. LSU mistakes and a terrible call by the officials killed the drive forcing a punt.

The LSU defense finally came up with a huge turnover. On second and nine at the Alabama 47, Harold Perkins forced a fumble and recovered the ball at the Bama 38.

The Tigers were only able to manage a 37 yard Damian Ramos field goal off of the turnover. 17-9, Bama with 10:28 left in the contest.

LSU was unable to generate any kind of offense late in the game to mount a comeback.

With the loss, LSU falls to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in SEC play. Next up, the Tigers return home to host Arkansas on Saturday, November 15. Kickoff is set for 11:45 am. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
