Da Boot Sports 8/24/2025 By: Da Boot Sports Staff BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU redshirt-senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has been chosen to wear the honorary #18 jersey. "The No. 18 is the player who brings all those traits of someone who leads in an extraordinary manner." Brian Kelly said. "The Attention to detail, great focus, represents the program in a positive way in the classroom, in the community and on the field." In 2003 Matt Mauck wore #18 while helping to lead LSU to a national championship. The #18 has become an honored symbol of excellence to the LSU football program. This will be Nussmeier's third number change as a Tiger. As a true freshman, he wore #5. In 2022 he switch to #13. Now, in his final season he will wear #18.
