Da Boot Sports 9/6/2025 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The #3 LSU Tigers improved to 2-0 on Saturday night in Death Valley as they sputtered against the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech for a sloppy 23-7 win in front of 101,667 LSU fans. It was a lackluster night in Tiger Stadium as LSU seemed to sleep walk their way to the victory. But it's a win and I'll take it. Expect to see a different team next Saturday night when the Gators come into Death Valley. Nussmeier finished the night going, 26-41 for 237 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Harlem Berry led the team in rushing with 56 yards on six carries. Barion Brown was the receiving leader with 94 yards on eight catches. The defense was led by West Weeks who had ten total tackles. LSU suffered two key injuries in the contest. Starting Center Braelin Moore suffered what looks to be a high ankle sprain and will probably be out for a several weeks. Trey'Dez Green suffered a knee injury and will undergo an MRI on Monday. Hopefully he won't be lost for the season. The Tigers sputtered offensively early on before they would wake up to go on a 11 play, 98 yard drive, culminating with a seven yard touchdown pass from Garrett Nussmeier to Nic Anderson for his first score as a LSU Tiger. 7-0 LSU with :12 left in the first quarter. Highlight of the drive was a beautiful 48 yard run by Zavion Thomas to set LSU up, first and ten at the Bulldog's 12 yard line. LSU would extend their lead to 10-0 on a 23 yard Damian Ramos field goal. The Tigers drove 85 yards in 13 plays for the score with 6:28 left in the first half. The Tigers went to the locker room for the halftime break leading only 10-0. It's was a night that LSU sputtered, playing down to the level of their opponent. Nussmeier finished the first half going 16-26 for 115 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Zavion Thomas was the team's leading rusher at the break with 57 yards on four carries. Barion Brown led the team in receiving with 44 yardson four catches. Tamarcus Cooley led the defense at the half with four tackles. LSU finally got on the scoreboard late in the second half when Caden Durham punched it in the end zone from three yards out to end a 33 yard, six play drive. 17-0, Tigers with 1:58 left in the third quarter. The Tigers added a 46 yard Damian Ramos field goal to increase their advantage to 20-0 with 11:14 left in the contest. Louisiana Tech had their best drive of the night, going 74 yards in 13 plays, scoring on a 33 yard touchdown pass from Blake Baker to Devin Gandy. 20-7, LSU with 4:02 left in the game. The Tigers drove deep into Bulldog territory, but the drive stalled at the two yard line, forcing LSU to settle for a 19 yard field goal by Ramos. 23-7, Tigers with 1:56 remaining. Next up the Tigers will host Florida in Tiger Stadium on Saturday, September 13 at 6:30pm CST. The game will be televised on ABC. **Please be sure to go to our Da Boot Sports YouTube Channel every Monday night at 8pm CST for our live podcast, Talking Tigers with Da Boot Sports!
