Da Boot Sports 8/17/2024 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The Tigers hit the practice field on Saturday morning for a scrimmage day. The players had to not only battle each other, but also the intense heat. It was HOT! Word from Brian Kelly today is that there's a bug going through some of the team. Starting center DJ Chester missed practice with the bug while others chose to practice through it. Garrett Nussmeier continues to look sharpe and in control of the offense, while the backup quarterback position still seems to be neck and neck between AJ Swann and Rickie Collins. Chris Hilton left practice with a minor ankle injury. Brain Kelly said it wasn't anything serious. The decision to sit him down was precautionary. The defense continues to show steady improvement. The Tigers will need to remain consistent on that side of the ball to avoid giving up the big play. The linebackers and edge rushers will be this team's strength. Brian Kelly said game prep for USC will begin next week. A huge congratulations to all of the LSU student athletes who received their degrees and graduated. Fantastic job! This season is LSU’s 100th year of football in Tiger Stadium and the school announced a sellout of season tickets with 71,250 being sold for 2024. The team will be off tomorrow for a rest and recovery day before returning to the practice field on Monday morning.
