TUSCALOOSA, LA - LSU traveled to Tuscaloosa to battle #4 Alabama and fell to the Crimson Tide, 20-9. The Tigers played hard but penalties, mistakes and missed opportunities did them in.

Nussmeier finished his night going, 18-21 for 121 yards. Van Buren went, 5-11 for 52 yards. Harlem Berry led the team in rushing with 66 yards on 12 carries. LSU finished the night rushing for only 59 total net yards.  Zavion Thomas was the team leader in receiving with 49 yards on five grabs. Barion Brown finished with 44 yards on five catches.
Harold Perkins led the defense with nine tackles, a sack, along with a forced and recovered fumble. West Weeks finished with seven tackles.

LSU continues to struggle in the red zone time and time again, having to settle for field goals.

The Tigers committed ten costly penalties for 74 yards.

Alabama got on the scoreboard first. After recovering a fumble by Bauer Sharp at the LSU 24 yard line, the Tide had to settle for a 45 yard Conor Talty field goal. 3-0, Alabama with 1:20 left in the first quarter.

LSU answered, driving 55 yards in nine plays before settling for a Damian Ramos 37 yards fiedl goal. 3-3 with 12:27 left in the first half.

Alabama retook the lead on their next possession, driving 75 yards in seven plays, culminating with a four yard touchdown run by Daniel Hill. 10-3, Bama with 9:25 left in the second quarter.

The Crimson Tide increased their lead on a 13 yard touchdown pass from Ty Simpsom to Ryan Williams. The scoring play, ended a three play, 66 yard drive. 17-3 Bama as we headed to halftime.

LSU took the second half kickoff and methodically moved the ball deep into Alabama territory, then began shooting themselves in the foot, eventually having to settle for a 44 yard field goal by Damian Ramos. 17-6, with 8:54 left in the third.

Micahel Van Buren replaced Nussmeier on LSU's next drive. After a couple of first downs the drive stalled. LSU mistakes and a terrible call by the officials killed the drive forcing a punt.

The LSU defense finally came up with a huge turnover. On second and nine at the Alabama 47, Harold Perkins forced a fumble and recovered the ball at the Bama 38.

The Tigers were only able to manage a 37 yard Damian Ramos field goal off of the turnover. 17-9, Bama with 10:28 left in the contest.

LSU was unable to generate any kind of offense late in the game to mount a comeback.

With the loss, LSU falls to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in SEC play. Next up, the Tigers return home to host Arkansas on Saturday, November 15. Kickoff is set for 11:45 am. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
