TIGERS GYMNASTICS WIN SEASON OPENER IN FRONT OF A RECORD CROWD, 197.300 - 194.100

   BATON ROUGE, LA - The defending national champions won their opening meet of the season, 197.300 - 194.100 against visiting Iowa State on Friday night in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

   The Tigers started off on the vault. KJ Johnson led off with a 9.825. Chase Brock followed with a 9.825. Aleah Finnegan then registered a 9.950. Kaliya Lincoln scored a 9.825. Amari Drayton then added a 9.925. Kailin Chio anchored the team in the event with a 9.825. After the first rotation, LSU led Iowa State, 49.350 - 47.750. 

   Next LSU moved to the bars. Lexi Zeiss led off with a nice 9.800. Ashley Cowan followed with a 9.850. Alexis Jeffrey then posted a 9.825. Kailin Chio added a 9.900. Aleah Finnegan flipped her way to a 9.900. Konnor McClain anchored the event and posted a 9.800. As the second rotation came to an end, the Tigers led, 98.625 - 96.575.

   The third rotation moved LSU to the beam. Sierra Ballard opened up with a 9.250. Amari Drayton then posted a 9.675. Freshman Kailin Chio then added a fantastic 9.925. Olivia Dunne followed with a 9.825. Konnor McClain then scored a 9.825. Aleah Finnegan anchored the event with a 9.925.
    As we headed to the final rotation of a great night in the PMAC, LSU held a 147.800 - 145.375 advantage.

   The floor event was the final rotation of the night for the Tigers. Sierra Ballard led off with a super nice, 9.850. Chase Brock was up next with a 9.875. Next up was Olivia Dunne who posted a 9.875. Amari Drayton then added another 9.875. Kailin Chio followed with a solid 9.925. Aleah Finnegan anchord the event with a fantastic 9.950.

   It was a great night in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center as the fans showed up in force for the largest opening home crowd in program history. 12,234. Great job Tiger fans.

   Next up, the 1-0 Tigers will travel to Oklahoma City to participate in the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad on Saturday, January 11 at 3:30 pm. It will be televised on ABC and ESPN Plus.
