LSU MEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON MERCIFULLY COMES TO AN END WITH 94-91 TRIPLE OVERTIME LOSS TO TEXAS A&M3/7/2026 Da Boot Sports 3/7/2026 By: Terrill J. Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - It was Senior Day in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Saturday afternoon and the Tigers played their hearts out, but fell in triple overtime to Texas A&M, 94-91, bringing the 2025-26 Men's Basketball Season to an end. LSU started fast and strong, controlling the first 11 minutes of the first half, building a 15 point advantage at the 8:52 mark. Texas A&M would go on an 18-7 run over the next eight minutes, cutting the Tigers' lead to 33-29 at the 2:41 mark. Marquel Sutton hit a three pointer with four seconds remaining to put LSU up, 38-33 at halftime. LSU shot the ball well in the first half, hitting 14-28 for 50% from the field. They sank 4-10 from behind the arc for 40%. From the charity stripe they hit 6-9 for 67%. LSU out-rebounded A&M over the first 20 minutes, 22-20. LSU committed nine first half turnovers while the Aggies had three. Nwoko led the team at the break with 9 points. Sutton scored 8. Reece, Mackinnon and Miller all finished with 6 points each. King added 3 points. LSU continued their solid play over the first seven minutes of the second half, out-scoring the Aggies, 18-14 to extend their lead to 56-47 at the 13:10 mark. The Aggies would go on a 9-4 run over the next five and a half minutes to trim the LSU lead to one, 60-59 at the 7:31 media timeout. The Tigers were hanging on by a thread. Both teams went back and forth trading the lead late in the contest. Max Mackinnon hit a basket with 38 seconds remaining to tie the game at 70-70. A&M mis-fired on their next possession and LSU rebounded with an opportunity to take the last shot. Mackinnon's shot was off the mark, sending us to overtime. Both teams continued to trade the lead in the extra period. Jalen Reece hit a jumper with 6.8 seconds remaining to tie the game at 79-79. A&M now had possession of the ball with six seconds remaining with the opportunity to take the final shot. The Aggies missed their shot attempt, sending us to a second overtime period. 79-79. Max Mackinnon banked in a layup with 1:03 remaining in OT two, giving LSU an 83-81 lead. Marcus Hill hit a shot with 50 seconds left on the clock, drawing a foul. He sank the free throw, giving the Aggies an 84-83 lead. A&M ended up back on the free throw line with 21 seconds left to play. Rylen Griffin made one of two, putting the Aggies up, 85-83. Mackinnon then sank two free throws to tie the game at 85-85 with 12 seconds remaining. We ended in another tie, sending us to a third overtime period. A&M was able to take a three point lead with only seven seconds remaining. LSU had one change left to try a three pointer to tie the contest. Mackinnon missed the three point attempt and the Aggies escaped with the 94-91 victory. The Tigers finish the season 15-16 overall and 3-15 in SEC play.
