Weil MANHATTAN, KANSAS - The Tigers hit the road for the first time this season and came away with an impressive, 76-65 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats. LSU flexed their defensive muscles all game long, suffocating and frustrating the Wildcats throughout the night. The Tigers also dominated on the glass, out-rebounding Kansas State, 43-25. LSU shot the ball well all night, finishing 27-54 from the floor for 50%. They finished 8-24 from behind the three point arc for 33%. The Tigers continue to shoot well from the free throw line, hitting 14-18 for 78%. The only hick up for the Bayou Bengals on the night was their turnovers in the second half. They finished the night with 16 total turnovers. Cam Carter had a great night against his former team, leading the Tigers with 20 points. Jordan Sears and Vyctorius Miller both finished with 15 points each. Daimion Collins added 12 points. Jalen Redd and Cory Chest both finished with 5 points each, while Dji Bailey contributed 4. Both teams ran the floor with a fast pace to start the contest as we played near even over the first four minutes of the game. Kansas State held a 7-5 lead with 16:00 left in the first half. Over the next five minutes both teams heated up and turned the game into a back and forth scoring affair. The Wildcats led 17-16 at the 10:53 mark official's timeout. LSU turned up their intensity and game play over the next three minutes, outscoring Kansas State, 11-6 to take a 27-23 lead with 7:43 left in the half. The Tigers continued to play well on both ends of the court. LSU would go on a 9-1 run over the next three minutes to extend their advantage to 36-24 with 4:37 left on the clock until the break. The Bayou Bengals would take a 43-31 lead into the locker room at the half. LSU had a great first half shooting from the floor, hitting 17-33 for 52%. They sank 5-15 from behind the arc for 33%. The Tigers were perfect from the free throw line over the first 20 minutes sinking 4-4. The Tigers only turned the ball over five times in the fist half while forcing Kansas State into five. LSU also out-rebounded the Wildcats, 21-12. Cam Carter led the Tigers with 12 points at the break. Jordan Sears and Daimion Collins both scored 8 points each. Vyctorius Miller added 7 points, while Dji Bailey finished with 4. Jalen Reed and Corey chest both contributed 2 points each. Kansas State and LSU, played even over the first five minutes of the second half, with the Tigers' still leading by 12, 49-37 at the 15:23 mark. LSU maintained their strong play over the next three minutes, as they held a 53-40 lead with 11:49 left in the contest. The Wildcats would outscore LSU, 6-3 over the next three minutes, cutting the Tigers' lead to ten, 56-46 with 9:14 left on the clock. The Bayou Bengals continued to outplay the Wildcats, keeping their lead in double digits. With 3:43 left, LSU held a 67-54 lead. The Tigers never flinched over the final three minutes of the contest to capture the impressive road victory. With the win, LSU is now 3-0 on the season.
