Da Boot Sports 3/26/2026 By: Terrill J Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - Matt McMahon has been released by LSU. Sources have confirmed that LSU is bringing Will Wade back to Baton Rouge to be the Fighting Tigers' new head coach. Wade was head coach at LSU from 2017-2022. It is also being reported that Heath Schroyer is joining the LSU Athletic Department. Schroyer is currently the AD at McNeese State. LSU president Wade Rousse has made this huge push to hire Wade away from NC State. The LSU basketball program qualified for the NCAA Tournament in Will Wade's final season in Baton Rouge and hasn't returned since. Under Matt McMahon, the Bayou Bengals were 15-55 in SEC play over the last four seasons. Everyone here at Da Boot Sports wish Matt McMahon all the best. Coach McMahon is a wonderful person and a class act. Can lightning strike twice for Will Wade and the LSU Men's Basketball Program? Most think it will. Expectations will be at an all-time high for the 2026-2027 basketball season. Ladies and gentlemen, the General has returned! BOOT UP! *John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life.
