BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU returned home to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Tuesday night hoping to snap their three game losing streak against the visiting Arkansas Razorbacks, and that's just what they did with a hard fought, 78-74 victory.

LSU played well over the final three minutes of the contest, playing tough defense and making their free throws to win their first conference game of the season.

The Tigers shot 22-55 from the floor for 40% on the night. They hit 8-22 from three point land for 36%. LSU was fantastic from the free throw line, sinking 26-28 for 93%. Turnovers where still an issue for the Bayou Bengals as they committed 15, but played well enough down the stretch to overcome it. LSU won the rebound battle, 39-37.
Cam Carter led the Tigers with 27 points. Jordan Sears scored 17 points. Dji Bailey and Mike Williams III both finished with 8 points each. Daimion Collins added 7. Derek Fountain finished with 6. Curtis Givens III ended up with 3 points and Corey Chest finished with 2 points.

Arkansas would score the first basket of the game, three minutes in as both teams struggled to put the ball in the hole.

So far we were witnessing an ugly game by both squads. At the 14:59 mark, Arkansas led, 4-2.

LSU finally began to show signs of life. Thankfully Arkansas was playing sloppy enough to allow the Tigers to keep pace. At the 11:27 official's timeout, the Hogs led, 13-11.

Over the next three minutes, the Razorbacks would outscore LSU, 10-5 to increase their lead to 23-16. The Tigers continued to struggle shooting the ball, only sinking 4-18 from the floor for only 22% so far in the contest.

After Arkansas built a 12 point lead at the 7:02 mark, LSU responded with a 7-0 run, cutting the lead to five, 28-23, forcing an Arkansas timeout with 4:47 left in the first half.

The Tigers were able to outscore the Hogs, 11-6 over the final 3:42 on the first half to cut the Arkansas lead to one at halftime,
36-34.

LSU shot 34% in the first half. They hit 4-12 from behind the three point arc for 33%. They were a perfect, 10-10 from the charity stripe. The Bayou Bengals only committed six turnovers and out-rebounded the Hogs, 21-17.
Cam Carter led the Tigers with 9 points at the break. Jordan Sears finished with 8 points. Derek Fountain added 6. Dji Bailey scored 4 points. Curtis Givens III added 3, while Mike Williams III and Corey Chest both scored 2 points each.

LSU started the second half with more intensity, outscoring the Hogs, 9-8 over the first four and a half minutes. With 15:34 left, Arkansas led, 44-43.

With 10:08 left in the contest, the Hogs led, 52-49. The game shaped up into a physical back and forth competitive battle.

Over the next four minutes, LSU would outscore Arkansas, 15-3 to take a 64-55 lead with 5:57 left.

After really struggling on offense over the last few minutes, Arkansas began to heat up, going on a 10-6 run over the last three minutes to cut the LSU lead to five, 70-65 with 3:12 left in the contest.

With the win, LSU improves to 12-5 overall and 1-3 in the SEC. Next up the Tigers head to College Station to play Texas A&M on Saturday, January 18. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.
