NASHVILLE, TN - The Tigers went into Nashville looking to snap their two game skid against #11 Vanderbilt, but the Commodores wouldn't allow it, defeating the Bayou Bengals, 84-73.

LSU, still without start point guard Dedan Thomas Jr. shot 46% from the field on the day. They sank 7-20 from behind the three point arc for 35%. At the free throw line, LSU hit 12-17 for 71%. Vanderbilt out-rebounded the Tigers, 36-35. LSU committed 14 costly turnovers while Vandy only had seven.
Mackinnon led the team with 27 points. Sutton finished with 13. Miller added 9 points. Nwoko, Reece and Tamba all had 6 points each. Moselly and King scored 3 points each.

Vanderbilt took the lead early and controlled the contest though out the first half of play, thanks to strong three point shooting.

At the 8:09 mark, a dunk by Jalen Washington put Vandy up by twenty, 37-17.

The Tigers refused to fold, fighting back to trim the Commodores lead to 14 at the half, 52-38.

At the break Max Mackinnon led the team with 14 points.

LSU continued to fight in the second half, going on a couple of nice runs to eventually cut the Vanderbilt advantage to single digits, 58-50 at the 14:11 mark.

The Tigers cut the lead to seven, 64-57 at the 9:39 mark, before Vanderbilt would go on a 6-2 run to increased their lead to eleven, 70-59 with 8:05 remaining.

With only 3:52 remaining in the contest, LSU trailed, 77-67.

LSU cut it to 80-71 with 46 seconds left on the clock. The Tigers just didn't have enough to overcome a very good Vanderbilt team.

With the loss the Tigers fall to 12-4 overall and 0-3 in SEC play. Next up LSU will return home to host Kentucky on Wednesday, January 14 at 6:00 pm. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
