 Photo By: LSUsports.net Da Boot Sports 4/27/2024 By: Alexis Persicke BATON ROUGE LA, – The Tigers took on the Arkansas Razorbacks for their second game in a series of three on Saturday, evening at Tiger Park. The game started off monotonous and did not look up for the Tigers. The Razorbacks hit two doubles in the second, pushing the first run across the plate. LSU matched them during their turn on offense. Gutierrez and Newland singled, Gutierrez advanced the bases and managed to score on two wild pitches. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the second. Pleasants made a defensive error in the third allowing the Razorbacks two safe runners. A walk loads the bases, and another walk gave Arkansas the lead. A single scored a third run, and yet another walk scores a fourth. A pitching change was finally made for LSU. Chaffin was put in for Lynch, and she quickly closed out the inning. Briggs made it on base and stole second for the Tigers and Gutierrez earned another single, but Newland unfortunately lined out into a double play at third. The Tigers did manage to gain two more hits, but it was for naught. The third inning ended with the Razorbacks up on the Tigers by three. The fifth and sixth went quickly. The Razorbacks gained no ground and LSU did not close the gap either. Arkansas went three up three down in the final inning, giving some hope to the Tigers, yet they could not gain any ground. Despite this loss, the Tigers managed to get on base in all but one inning, and Guttierrez had an incredible offensive game going 4-4. With the loss LSU falls to 35-13 overall and 11-12 in SEC play. LSU will go against Arkansas in their final game of the series on Sunday, April 28th at 1:00 PM in Tiger Park, hoping to avoid a Razorback sweep. John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life.
