BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 20 LSU could not overcome a four-run first inning by No. 5/3 Oklahoma, falling 8-3 in the series’ rubber match on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Park.

LSU moves to 23-12 overall and 4-8 in league play after a competitive series, and Oklahoma is now 34-3 and 8-1 in the SEC.

“I liked the fight of our team,” Head Coach Beth Torina said. “We scratched back and got within one swing of it at the end. We continued to battle, which I thought was really cool.”

Cece Cellura (4-4) was charged with her second loss of the series after surrendering three runs on three hits in the first inning. Jayden Heavener logged 5.2 innings, giving up five runs, seven hits, and one walk, while striking out three batters. Paytn Monticelli recorded the final three outs and capped the game with a strikeout.

Kylee Edwards (2-for-3) continues to see the ball well, hitting two home runs on the day to push her season total to six. It was her first career multi-home run game, and the junior infielder scored two runs, had two RBI, and drew a walk.

Char Lorenz also went yard for the Tigers, hitting her fifth homer of the season, and Sierra Daniel batted 2-for-3 on the day, bringing her season total to a team-best 10 multi-hit games and 100 career hits. Maci Bergeron and Alix Franklin accounted for LSU’s remaining hits, and Franklin drove in a run.

Oklahoma’s Maili Guachino improved to 10-0 in the circle. In her third complete game this season, Guachino had a season-high 11 strikeouts and allowed four runs, seven hits, and three walks.

Oklahoma jumped out to a 4-0 lead, highlighted by two home runs by Kendall Wells and Gabbie Garcia in the opening inning. LSU chipped away at the deficit in the second with consecutive home runs on back-to-back pitches by K. Edwards and Lorenz, making the score 4-2.

After a pair of clean innings for both clubs, the Sooners extended their lead via a three-run shot over the center field wall by Isabela Emerling, and the Tigers went out in order in the home half, trailing 7-2 through five frames.

The two teams traded solo shots in the sixth inning, including K. Edwards’ second homer of the game, which made the score 8-3.

Monticelli worked a 1-2-3 seventh, concluding with a strikeout, and the Tigers threatened in the bottom half-inning. Jalia Lassiter drew a walk, and Daniel registered her second base knock of the game. With two outs on the board, Franklin hit a run-scoring single up the middle, bringing K. Edwards to the plate for her fourth at-bat. K. Edwards would be retired for the first time, however, with a fly out to right field to end the game.

Up Next
LSU will have a quick turnaround with a Thursday through Saturday series on April 2-4, against Missouri in Columbia, Mo.

BATON ROUGE, La. – Kylee Edwards sealed the 3-1 victory for No. 20 LSU over No. 5/3 Oklahoma with a two-run shot on Saturday at Tiger Park, delivering Oklahoma its first loss in SEC play this season.
LSU evens the series, moving to 23-11 and 4-7 in SEC play with a win over Oklahoma (33-3, 7-1 SEC). The victory snaps Oklahoma’s 22-game winning streak, the second-longest in the country, and marks LSU’s first win over the Sooners since 2015.

   K. Edwards went 2-for-3 on the day with two RBI and one run, marking her seventh multi-hit game and fifth multi-RBI game this season. Alix Franklin had one hit, scored a run, and tallied her second RBI of the series, and Jalia Lassiter accounted for another hit, bringing the Tigers’ total to five. Lassiter scored a run and drew a walk in the game.

“We have to continue to be aggressive and set the tone early,” said Head Coach Beth Torina. “They [Oklahoma] don’t play from behind very often, so it was a different feeling for them. Having a lead allowed our pitchers to be a little more aggressive. Credit to the offense for setting the tone for us there.”

LSU pitcher Jayden Heavener (8-6) threw her 10th complete game of the season, fanning four and allowing two hits, two walks, and no earned runs. Heavener and the defense held the high-powered offense to just two hits. Over 15 innings in the series, OU has scored in only three and has no home runs.

“Jayden Heavener gave us a great game today,” Coach Torina added. “I knew in the research that they [Oklahoma] hadn’t seen an arm like hers this season. I thought she was great and executed the plan beautifully. She just did an awesome job being herself.”

Oklahoma’s Allyssa took her first loss, dropping to 4-1 after allowing three runs on two hits and three walks in 3.0 innings. Sydney Berzon, in her Tiger Park debut as a Sooner, gave up three hits over the final three innings. Both pitchers struck out two.

Heavener began with a strikeout, and the offense took a 1-0 lead after the first without a hit. Franklin’s sacrifice fly scored Lassiter, who led off with a walk.

Maci Bergeron caught her fifth runner stealing this year—and 25th in her career—in the second. The Tigers faced the minimum in the third and fourth frames.

Franklin singled up the middle in the fourth for the game’s first hit, and K. Edwards followed with a home run to center, extending the lead to 3-0.
LSU held off OU in the fifth, stranding two runners in scoring position, and secured its third 1-2-3 inning of the game in the sixth, capped by Heavener’s third strikeout of the day. Oklahoma avoided the shutout, however, after scoring on a throwing error in the seventh, but another strikeout by Heavener and a groundout to third base ended the game.

The series finale will be at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday, on ESPN.

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 20 LSU held No. 5/3 Oklahoma scoreless through six innings, but the Sooners rallied for three late runs to win the series opener 3-2 Friday night at Tiger Park.

LSU falls to 22-11 overall and 3-7 in league play, while Oklahoma is now 33-2 and 7-0 in the SEC. Cece Cellura limited Oklahoma’s powerful offense, throwing 117 pitches over 7.0 innings with three strikeouts and no walks, allowing three runs on 10 hits. The Sooners were held without a home run for just the second time this season.

“We played great,” said Head Coach Beth Torina. “Cece Cellura was just incredible. That’s three starts in a row where she’s been fantastic. I hate that we couldn’t get the win for her. One more thing, at any point. One more groundball, one more hit, one more pitch, one more anything, and we have them. I think a lot of hope is still in the group. We just have to keep going. We have a good plan, obviously, but it would have been good to get that one.”

Jayden Heavener (7-7) was charged with the loss after pitching 1.0 innings in relief. Heavener finished the game with one strikeout and one walk.

Jalia Lassiter matched her season-best with three hits and hit her fifth home run of the season. She also scored twice, recording her team-high ninth multi-hit game of the year. Alix Franklin went 2-for-2 with a game-tying RBI single and drew two walks.

Oklahoma’s Miali Guachino improved to 9-0 after pitching 1.1 innings in relief, allowing one hit, one walk, and recording a strikeout. Starter Audrey Lowry went 6.1 innings with four strikeouts, giving up two runs on five hits and five walks.

Cellura opened the game with three shutout innings featuring two strikeouts, and Lassiter put the Tigers on the scoreboard with a line-drive solo shot over the left field wall, giving LSU a 1-0 lead after three complete innings.

The Tigers’ defense sent the Sooners out in order in the fourth, highlighted by a diving foul flyout by Char Lorenz in left field, and although the Sooners threatened in the fifth with a runner in scoring position, Cellura got out of the jam with her third strikeout and a groundout for five scoreless innings.

LSU held off OU in the sixth, but the Sooners finally cracked the scoreboard at the top of the seventh, scoring two runs on Kendall Wells’ single to right to grab a 2-1 advantage. The Fighting Tigers responded immediately in the home half and tied the game thanks to Franklin’s RBI single down the left field line, plating Lassiter, who reached for the fourth time on a fielder’s choice.

In extras after OU logged its 10th hit of the game, a double by Gabbie Garcia, Heavener came in to relieve Cellura, but the Sooners held on to the momentum and regained a 3-2 lead when Garcia scored on Abby Dayton’s sacrifice fly.

LSU had one base runner in the bottom of the eighth with Maci Bergeron’s one-out walk, but Guachino’s strikeout, followed by a pop-up to the second baseman, ended the rally for the Tigers.

Game two of the series will begin at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday on SEC Network.

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 20 LSU shut out Louisiana Tech, 9-0, in five innings on Tuesday night at Tiger Park for Head Coach Beth Torina’s 600th career victory at the helm of the program.

With 600 career wins as an LSU Tiger, Beth Torina joins legendary company at LSU—becoming just the third head coach in a head-to-head team sport to reach the milestone, alongside Skip Bertman (870) and Paul Mainieri (641). She stands as the only active LSU head coach with 600 or more wins.

LSU (22-10, 3-6 SEC) earned its third consecutive victory and has won four of its last five games, while Louisiana Tech (17-15, 3-6 C-USA) drops its fifth consecutive game of the season. The Tigers also stretched their winning streak against the Bulldogs to 27 games in the all-time series.

“I’ve said all along that this team is getting better all the time,” said Head Coach Beth Torina. “They are growing all the time. I can’t recall a team that has had this much growth as the season continues. I am confident that we will continue to improve.”

LSU pitcher Paytn Monticelli started the game and set the tone in the combined shutout. The first seven outs for the Tigers were strikeouts for Monticelli, with four of them being swinging strikeouts. The senior hurler improved to 3-1 in the circle and allowed one hit and one walk in 3.0 innings.

The final two innings saw freshmen pitchers Cali Deal and Ashlin Mowery close the game. In the fourth, Deal notched one strikeout and gave up one hit, while Mowery struck out two of the four batters she faced in the fifth.

Leading the team in hits, Tori Edwards (2-for-2) and Jalia Lassiter (2-for-3) both hit solo shots and scored two runs. T. Edwards matched a team-high two RBI with Kylee Edwards, who contributed a two-run round tripper in the win.

Louisiana Tech’s Laney Johnson was handed the loss and falls to 4-2 on the season. Johnson gave up the game’s first four runs and four hits and walked one batter in 0.2 innings. Two other pitchers logged innings for the Bulldogs, but none registered a strikeout.

Monticelli got things started by striking out the side. Four runs on four hits capped the first inning for LSU. Safely reaching base, the Tigers’ first five batters set the stage, highlighted by consecutive hits from Lassiter, Sierra Daniel, and T. Edwards. T. Edwards singled to score Lassiter. On a fielder’s choice, Daniel was called safe at the plate, followed by Char Lorenz’s sacrifice fly that plated T. Edwards. Destiny Harris then brought the score to 4-0 with an RBI double down the left field line after the first frame.

After Monticelli struck out the side for the second time, the Tigers belted three home runs in the second, including solo shots by Lassiter and T. Edwards, and a two-run homer by K. Edwards increased LSU’s margin to 8-0. It marked the first time LSU had three home runs in a single inning since May 24, 2024, at Stanford, where Ali Newland, Maci Bergeron, and Kelley Lynch went yard in the 2024 Super Regionals.

Monticelli had another clean inning in the third that started with a strikeout before concluding her day, and Deal took over in the fourth, where the defense tallied their 20th double play of the season, and Deal capped the half inning with a swinging strikeout. Pinch hitter Gradie Appling’s first career hit was an RBI double to push LSU’s lead to 9-0 after four.

A pair of strikeouts from Mowery ended the game in the fifth inning, following Bergeron catching a runner stealing for the first out.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Tori Edwards’ lone hit of the series was a two-out, two-RBI double in the sixth inning that lifted No. 22/19 LSU to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over No. 21/24 South Carolina, claiming an intense series on Sunday at Carolina Softball Stadium.

Trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning with runners on the corners and two outs on the board, T. Edwards sent a 1-0 pitch to right center field, scoring both Destiny Harris and Sierra Daniel. Jayden Heavener (7-6) worked a 1-2-3 inning in the sixth and the defense recorded the final three outs in the seventh, including a diving catch by Daniel at second base and a strikeout by Heavener to secure the win.

With the win, LSU (21-10, 3-6 SEC) earns its first SEC series win, and South Carolina (21-12, 1-5 SEC) drops its second.

Heavener finished the game with five strikeouts and gave up one run on two hits in her 11th complete game of the season.

Jori Heard (4-3) is awarded the loss after pitching 5.2 innings, where she struck out five batters and gave up the two runs on T. Edward’s hit. She also walked one batter.

It was a stalemate through the first four innings. After Heavener walked the leadoff batter in the first, she went on to retire the next seven batters and concluded the fourth inning with three strikeouts, allowed one hit and walked two batters.

South Carolina broke through in the fifth inning with a leadoff home run by Jamie Mackay, but LSU answered by taking the lead in the top of the sixth. Harris reached on an error, advanced to second base on Avery Hodge’s sacrifice bunt, and went to third on Jalia Lassiter’s flyout to right field. Daniel drew a walk to put runners on the corners, and T. Edwards gave LSU its first hit of the game with the two-run double.

With a one-run lead, Heavener continued to deal, working a 1-2-3 inning to send the game to the seventh, and the defense recorded the final three outs, highlighted by Daniel’s diving catch at second base, and capped by Heavener’s fifth strikeout to end the game.

LSU improves its record to 20-10 and 2-6 in SEC play, while South Carolina falls to 21-11 and 1-4 in conference.

Cellura (4-2) and the defense played 6.1 innings of shutout softball. Cellura faced 28 batters in 7.0 innings, striking out two and allowing one run on eight hits. She also induced 10 groundouts, including LSU’s 19th double play of the season, and eight flyouts.

Four LSU players had multiple hits. K. Edwards led with her sixth multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-3, scoring twice (including a steal of home), and walking once.

Destiny Harris and Maddox McKee each went 2-for-2. Harris scored twice, walked, and stole a base. McKee drove in three runs, including a two-RBI triple—her fifth career multi-RBI game. Sierra Daniel was 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Josey Marron (1-2) is charged with the loss for South Carolina. Marron faced only eight batters and gave up one run on three hits and walked one batter before being pulled. Marron finished the game with no strikeouts.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – A 12-inning battle resulted in a 6-5 walk-off loss for No. 22/19 LSU against No. 21/24 South Carolina to open the three-game series on Friday night at Carolina Softball Stadium.
Both clubs were held scoreless for six consecutive innings after the fifth concluded locked in a 5-5 tie. In the extra-inning periods, each team had one hit entering the 12th, before South Carolina (21-10, 1-3 SEC) had two, including the game-winning RBI single by Lexi Winters that scored Arianna Rodi, who also singled earlier in the 12th.

LSU (19-10, 1-6 SEC) logged 11 hits in the setback, marking the most in an SEC game this season. It is the fifth time LSU has reached double-digit hits in a game this year. Three Tigers had multiple hits in the game. Kylee Edwards had a 3-for-6 performance at the plate, highlighted by her second home run and second triple of the season, and drove in a career-best four RBI. Jalia Lassiter had two two-out doubles and scored one run in the game, and Sierra Daniel was 2-for-6 in the batter’s box.

Jayden Heavener (6-6) suffered the loss after firing 111 pitches in 7.1 innings in relief. Heavener fanned six batters and gave up one run on six hits. Heavener did not walk a batter in her appearance. Tatum Clopton started the game in the circle for LSU but did not receive a decision after pitching 2.0 innings, where she recorded one strikeout and allowed three runs on six hits. Paytn Monticelli pitched 2.1 innings in relief, where she had two strikeouts and surrendered two runs, three hits, and a walk.

Pitcher Nealy Lamb improved to 4-4 for South Carolina after pitching the final 3.0 innings of shutout softball. Lamb finished with four strikeouts, gave up one hit, and walked one batter.  Jori Heard pitched 7.0 innings in relief and concluded with six strikeouts and gave up seven hits, two runs, and two walks.

South Carolina scored first behind a pair of solo home runs in the second inning by Tate Davis and Jamie Mackay. LSU responded in the top of the third by loading the bases with no outs, forcing an early Gamecock pitching change. After a leadoff double by Lassiter and a walk by Tori Edwards, Char Lorenz singled through the left side, putting a runner on each bag. A ground out by Maci Bergeron scored Lassiter, and K. Edwards welcomed the new hurler with a two-out, two-run single through the right side, giving LSU a 3-2 lead. After the Gamecocks opened the bottom of the third with two singles, Monticelli entered the circle and recorded all three outs in the frame, including a strikeout, but not before South Carolina tied the contest, 3-3, on an RBI groundout.

After a clean fourth inning for both teams, Bergeron jump-started the fifth with a double, and K. Edwards gave the Tigers the lead again, this time with a two RBI shot to centerfield. South Carolina answered with a two-run, four-hit frame, however, highlighted by an RBI single by Davis and an RBI double by Winters as part of a stretch with four consecutive hits. The fifth inning concluded with the clubs tied, 5-5.
After a scoreless sixth inning, LSU threatened in the seventh with a two-out triple by K. Edwards, but South Carolina escaped without giving up a run. Heavener and the defense retired the Gamecocks in order in the bottom of the seventh, however, sending the game to extras.

BATON ROUGE, La. – Tatum Clopton matched a season-high six strikeouts in her first complete game of the season to lead No. 20/17 LSU in its first SEC win of the season, a 7-1 victory over No. 16 Texas A&M on Monday night at Tiger Park.

LSU (19-9, 1-5 SEC) never trailed in the game and pulled away from Texas A&M (19-9, 2-1 SEC) in the sixth inning with another four-run frame, its third in league play.

“We’re trending up,” said Head Coach Beth Torina. “I told the team tonight that we needed to win one more pitch. With one more pitch, things could go our way. It felt that way at Tennessee, too. Just win one more pitch on the defensive or offensive side. I think we’re continuing to grow and get better. Maybe, on the outside, you can’t see it, but it’s about what the coaches see and what the players see. I think we’re learning and growing all the time. We are moving forward.”

Clopton improves to 6-1 on the season after throwing her fourth in her career. In addition to the six strikeouts, Clopton allowed one earned run, five hits, and five walks.

The Bayou Bengals tallied eight hits, led by Ci’ella Pickett’s 2-for-3 outing with an RBI, and Alix Franklin’s second home run of the season. Maci Bergeron led the team with two RBI on one hit, marking her 20th career multi-RBI game.

TAMU’s Sydney Lessentine moves to 8-2 with the loss despite recording six strikeouts in 4.0 innings. Lessentine gave up three runs, four hits and a walk.

Franklin hit a two-out home run in the second inning to give LSU its first lead of the series. After a scoreless third, Clopton sent the Aggies out in order at the top of the fourth, and LSU scored two runs in the home half with two outs. With Franklin on second base after reaching on a fielder’s choice and advancing on Kylee Edwards’ single, Pickett drove a pitch to the second baseman to score Franklin, and K. Edwards went to third on the A&M error. K. Edwards stole home plate to increase the Tigers' lead to 3-0.

Texas A&M got on the scoreboard in the fifth with a sacrifice fly, but LSU responded with two runs in the sixth. The Tigers loaded the bases with a walk by K.    BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 20/17 LSU threatened with runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but was defeated by No. 16 Texas A&M, 3-2, on Sunday night at Tiger Park.

With the loss, LSU (18-9, 0-5 SEC) drops the series to Texas A&M (19-8, 2-0 SEC) with one game remaining in the series.

Cece Cellura (3-2) was charged with the loss in her second complete game this season. Cellura fanned six batters, gave up three runs on six hits, and did not allow a walk.

“I thought Cece Cellura was awesome,” said Head Coach Beth Torina. “She did what she needed. It’s a nice lift for us, seeing her have a game like that. It was nice she was able to answer the call today.”

The Tigers recorded three hits in the game. Avery Hodge stretched her hitting streak to six with a bunt single in the third inning, Tori Edwards belted her fifth home run of the season in the sixth, and freshman Ci’ella Pickett singled in the seventh.

Sidne Peters got a win in her second appearance in the circle this series, improving to 7-3. Peters struck out seven batters and surrendered three hits, three walks, and two runs in 6.0 innings. Sydney Lessentine earned her first save this season, recording the final three outs of the game.

Texas A&M scored in the first inning for the second consecutive game off a two-run home run by Mya Perez, giving the Aggies a 2-0 lead at the conclusion of the first inning.

Both clubs remained scoreless for the next four frames. The Tigers' defense turned a double play to end the second inning and proceeded to retire 10 consecutive batters, but Perez drove in her third run with a single to center field, scoring Kennedy Powell, who singled, stole second, and advanced to third on a strikeout to increase the margin to 3-0 in the top of the sixth.

   T. Edwards got things going in the bottom of the sixth with a solo blast to avoid the shutout, and the Tigers put together a final rally attempt in the seventh. Pinch hitter Maddox McKee was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Pickett singled to left field to move McKee into scoring position and bring the go-ahead run to the plate. Kylee Edwards laid down a sacrifice bunt that moved both runners in scoring position for Hodge, who brought in McKee on a groundout to the shortstop, bringing the score to 3-2. Jalia Lassiter wore a pitch to add another baserunner for LSU, but a pop-up to the second baseman ended the threat.

THIBODAUX, La. – No. 20/17 LSU downed Nicholls, 12-2, behind a season-high 14 hits and a pair of four-run innings on Tuesday night at Swanner Field.

LSU (18-7, 0-3 SEC) extends its winning streak to 38 games in the all-time series versus Nicholls (12-11, 2-1 SLC) and is 14-0 when playing the Colonels in Thibodaux.

Cali Deal (1-0) got her first career win in her first collegiate start after striking out three and allowing one run on two hits in 4.0 innings of work. Ashlin Mowery retired all six batters she faced in 2.0 frames, and Paytn Monticelli had a strikeout and allowed one run, hit, and walk in the final inning of the game.

All nine starters for the Tigers tallied a hit in the game. Alix Franklin and Kylee Edwards each had a career-high three hits and recorded two RBI in the win. Franklin was a home run shy of hitting the cycle and drew a walk. K. Edwards scored two runs, and Char Lorenz turned in two hits, scored two runs, and had one RBI and one walk. Avery Hodge hit her first home run of the season, driving in three runs.

Nicholls’ Molly Yoo falls to 7-4 in the circle after allowing five runs on five hits and walked one batter. Yoo had no strikeouts over the 3.1 innings pitched.

After Sierra Daniel’s walk and a single through the left side by Lorenz, Franklin went opposite field with a base-clearing triple, her fifth three-bagger of the season, giving LSU a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Deal worked a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the first, but the Colonels scored on a run-scoring single that was aided by an error to make it a one-run game in the second inning, 2-1.

Batters 5-9 did work for the Tigers in the fourth inning. Franklin led off with a double to right center field, and a batter later, K. Edwards brought her home with a single up the middle. Ci’ella Pickett’s ensuing double put both runners in scoring position, and after a Nicholls pitching change, Hodge roped her first home run of the season to give LSU a 6-1 advantage through four stanzas.

LSU added two more runs in the top of the fifth, highlighted by K. Edwards’ second RBI single of the game, stretching LSU’s margin to 8-1.

Mowery entered the circle in the fifth inning and mowed down the six batters she faced. In the top of the seventh, LSU recorded its second four-run inning game on four hits, featuring three consecutive run-scoring knocks to build a 12-1 margin. Lassiter laced an RBI single through the left side. Daniel hit a two-run triple down the right field line, and Lorenz capped the flurry of hits with an RBI double to right center field.

Nicholls squeezed out one final run in the home half before Monticelli closed the door with a strikeout.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 17/16 LSU fell to No. 1 Tennessee, 8-5, in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.LSU (17-7, 0-3 SEC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead for the second consecutive game, but Tennessee (23-0, 3-0 SEC) withstood the storm and rallied back with five unanswered runs. LSU tied the game at five in the sixth inning, but the Lady Vols walked it off in the seventh with a three-run home run by Gabby Leach to sweep the series.

Jayden Heavener has a 6-4 record after pitching her eighth complete game this season. Heavener struck out four batters and allowed eight hits, seven earned runs, and five walks in the setback.

Five different Tigers recorded a hit in the game, highlighted by Rylie Johnson’s first collegiate home run and Jalia Lassiter’s third homer of the season and second of the series. Alix Franklin, Avery Hodge, and Tori Edwards each had one hit in the contest.

Tennessee pitcher Erin Nuwer was credited with the win, improving to 10-0 in the circle this year. Nuwer started the game and pitched 2.1 innings overall. She faced only eight batters, where she only surrendered a walk, no runs, hits, or strikeouts. Sage Mardjetko did much of the work over 3.2 innings. She gave up three runs on two hits, walked five batters, and recorded both of the Lady Vols’ strikeouts.

Heavener had two strikeouts through the first two innings and worked a 1-2-3 second to set the stage for a big offensive inning for the Tigers. LSU pieced together another four-run inning in the series, highlighted by a pair of home runs that scored three runs in the top of the third. Johnson struck first with a leadoff home run to right field, and Hodge followed with a double to left center field, enticing Tennessee to make a pitching change. Lassiter welcomed the new arm with a moonshot to left center field that increased LSU’s margin to 3-0 with no outs. The Tigers pushed one more run across home plate with a two-out, run-scoring single up the middle by T. Edwards, scoring Lorenz, who reached on an error. The Lady Vols threatened with two runners in scoring position in the home half, but the defense stood tall, and LSU led 4-0 after three frames.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Tennessee made it a one-run game at 4-3, thanks to a three-run home run from Emma Clarke, and Ella Dodge tied it up in the fifth with a leadoff blast to right field. The Lady Vols captured the lead off Maddie Rutan’s sacrifice fly, making the score 5-4.

LSU loaded the bases at the top of the sixth off three consecutive two-out walks, and Nuwer, who re-entered the game, walked the fourth consecutive batter to tie the game, 5-5.

With the game knotted at five entering the seventh, LSU went out in order in the top half, and Tennessee recorded a walk and a single to get into scoring position. Leach then stepped to the plate and took a 3-2 pitch deep to right field to walk off LSU in the series finale.
