LSU (38-11, 10-10 SEC) records its second walk-off of the season and first since opening weekend when the Tigers walked off Southeastern Louisiana, 3-2 on Feb. 9. LSU hands Florida (41-11, 12-8 SEC) its first loss since April 17, snapping a four-game winning streak. LSU pitcher Sydney Berzon and the defense retired the Gators in order in the top of the seventh with the score tied, 1-1. Outfielder McKenzie Redoutey hit a leadoff single to centerfield to represent the game-winning run. She was pinch run for by McKaela Walker, who advanced to third base on a sac bunt and a groundout. After outfielder Jadyn Laneaux drew a two-out walk, Daniel chopped a 0-1 pitch to the second baseman, and Waker touched home plate to win the game. “Our team has a never-quit factor in them,” said head coach Beth Torina. “There has never been a moment when I thought we were out of the ballgame. This team has a lot of fight and a lot of guts. They are very tough. I wasn’t surprised to see us bounce back.” Berzon (16-5) pitched a gem on Sunday, as she and the defense held Florida to a season-low two hits. Berzon finished with four strikeouts and gave up one run and four walks in her 17th complete game of the season. “I can’t say enough about Sydney Berzon and her performance,” said Coach Torina. “It felt like the Syd we’ve all come to know and appreciate. She’s worked really hard to get back to this spot. A lot of things that have happened when the lights weren’t on have prepared her to be out there at this moment. I don’t think anyone truly knows her story, but she’s fought through a lot and continues to do her best every time. It was an incredible performance by her, our defense, and our team as a whole.” Florida pitcher Katelynn Oxley (8-5) was charged with the loss after giving up a run on two hits and two walks and had one strikeout in 1.0 inning in the circle. Daniel and Redoutey were both 2-for-3 at the plate, and Daniel added the RBI. Daniel also had five putouts and three assists on defense. “Sierra Daniel was incredible on defense today,” Coach Torina said. “Avery Hodge, Danieca Coffey, and Jadyn Laneaux had some great plays. Sierra on defense makes the whole thing tick. She’s a great leader for us and had a really big day defensively and offensively.” Infielder Tori Edwards had one hit - her 18th home run of the season, which set a new single-season home run record for an LSU freshman and ties Bianka Bell (2015) for the most home runs in a single season in program history. Berzon opened the game with four shutout innings, allowing just one hit and three walks, and featured an impressive 643 double play in the fourth frame. In the bottom of the fourth, Edwards went yard for the second time in as many games, smacking a solo shot to give LSU a 1-0 lead after four innings. However, Florida responded in the fifth, tying the game off a run-scoring double by outfielder Kendra Falby. However, that was all the Gators would get as Berzon and the defense retired seven of the final eight batters faced to close the game and tie the series 1-1. LSU falls to 37-11 on the season and has a 9-10 record in the SEC. Florida wins its fourth consecutive game and improves to 41-10 and 12-7 in league play. Florida’s 14 runs and 13 hits are an opponent season-high against LSU. “Just a tough day. Obviously, we did not pitch well at all. We could not seem to find the answers for them,” said head coach Beth Torina. “Florida has a good offense. They swing big, and they capitalize on mistakes. You can’t have an off day and try to get people like that out. It just doesn’t work.” LSU pitcher Jayden Heavener (11-4) was handed the loss after starting the first 2.0 innings. She had three strikeouts and gave up four runs on three hits and two walks. Florida pitcher Kegan Rothrock (11-4) fired 98 pitches, totaled three strikeouts, surrendered four runs on five hits, and walked two in a complete-game effort. Infielder Tori Edwards led LSU offensively, batting 2-for-3, including a home run, and had three RBI. Edwards' 17th home run of the season ties Sahvanna Jaquish (2014) for the most home runs by an LSU freshman in a single season. Edwards is one homer shy of tying Bianka Bell (2015) for the most home runs in a single season in program history. Florida scored in each inning except the first. “I like seeing this team's fight and Tori [Edwards] battle like she has done all year long,” said Coach Torina. “It was cool seeing her continue to fight. With the win, LSU (37-10) extends its winning streak to four games against McNeese (34-18), improves to 8-0 against in-state opponents this season and concludes its non-conference regular season schedule with a 28-1 record. LSU pitcher Tatum Clopton (7-1) finished with four strikeouts and gave up four hits, no runs, and no walks in 7.0 innings to earn the win in the circle. McNeese pitcher Maddie Taylor (15-7) suffers the loss after allowing four runs on four hits and two walks in 2.0 innings. Taylor had two strikeouts. In the top of the seventh inning, trailing 4-3, LSU outfielder Jadyn Laneaux drew a leadoff walk, and infielder Sierra Daniel laid down a bunt single to put a runner in scoring position. Infielder Danieca Coffey followed with a run-scoring single up the middle, and LSU regained a 5-4 lead on outfielder Jalia Lassiter’s RBI fielder’s choice. LSU pitcher Tatom Clopton (6-1) earned the win in the circle after firing a total of 104 pitches in 5.2 innings, where she concluded with two strikeouts and gave up one run, four hits and five walks. Pitcher Sydney Berzon picked up her second save of the season and ninth of her career after a hitless 1.1 innings with one strikeout and one walk. Berzon’s nine career saves move her into sole possession at No. 3 all-time in the program record book. Although she faced just 10 batters, Texas pitcher Mac Morgan (7-3) was charged with the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in 2.1 innings. LSU (35-9, 8-8 SEC) led 3-0 through five innings before Texas (40-5, 12-4 SEC) tied the game in the sixth off two home runs, and Atwood ended it with a grand slam in the seventh, marking LSU’s fourth consecutive loss. LSU (35-7, 8-6 SEC) drops its first series against Texas A&M (36-5, 10-3 SEC) at Davis Diamond. Starting pitcher Jayden Heavener (11-3) was charged with the loss after giving up seven runs, five hits, one walk, and one strikeout in 0.2 innings. Relief pitcher Ashley Vallejo tossed the remaining 5.1 frames, where she allowed two runs on three hits, walked four and struck out two. Texas A&M pitcher Emiley Kennedy (14-3) got her second win of the weekend in the circle after coming in relief to throw three no-hit shutout innings with three strikeouts and two walks. Catcher Maci Bergeron batted 2-for-4, scored one run and drove in a run, and infielder Danieca Coffey was 2-for-3 and scored one run. Infielder Tori Edwards, the nation’s top freshman slugger, hit her fourth grand slam of the season, setting a new program record, and is the program record holder among freshmen with 61 RBI. Texas A&M scored three runs without putting the ball in play behind a hit-by-pitch and five walks. LSU totaled 10 base hits, led by infielder Maddox McKee, who was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Outfielder McKenzie Redoutey was also 2-for-3 at the dish with one run and one RBI, and infielder Tori Edwards was 2-for-4 with a team-high two runs scored. Texas A&M struck first with a three-run homer by infielder Mac Barbara in the first inning, but LSU answered quickly with six consecutive hits to start the second. Highlighting the barrage of hits were run-scoring singles by designated player Savanna Bedell, McKee, and infielder Avery Hodge, and an RBI double by outfielder Jadyn Laneaux that gave the Tigers a 4-3 lead with no outs. Outfielder Jalia Lassiter brought in another run on a sacrifice fly to grab a 5-3 advantage, but A&M knotted the game in the bottom half-inning to tie the game 5-5 through two frames. Neither team did any damage in the third inning, but the Aggies plated four runs on a couple of hits and an LSU error to take a 9-5 lead through four, added another pair of runs in the fifth for an 11-5 margin, and tacked on an insurance run in the sixth for a 12-5 lead. LSU scored two runs in the seventh on Redoutey’s sac fly, and Laneaux walked in a run, but Texas A&M ended the threat with the bases loaded with two line outs. Torina is the program’s leader with 571 wins and is the only active head coach at LSU with 500 or more victories. “I did not play in any of the games, but it makes me proud to think about all of the women that did,” said Coach Torina. “I think that is the big deal when you hit these marks. I think about all those women who gave their all for LSU and FIU. They have not just given it to their university but given it to me, as well. It makes me really proud.” LSU (35-5) used a four-run first and sixth inning to claim its 26th consecutive win over Louisiana Tech (24-16) and 21st at Tiger Park. LSU pitcher Tatum Clopton improves to 5-0 after tossing her third complete game this season. Clopton fired 101 pitches, striking out five batters, allowing just one run on three hits, and walking one. With the win, LSU has had three pitchers start the season 5-0 five times in program history (2015, 2016, 2018, 2023 and 2025). LA Tech’s pitcher Allie Floyd (17-8) picked up the loss after surrendering four runs on three hits and two walks in the first inning. Floyd had one strikeout in the game, the Bulldogs’ only strikeout. LSU tallied 10 hits, marking the 18th game this season it has logged double-digit hits. Seven Tigers recorded a hit in the game, including infielders Tori Edwards and Maddox McKee, and outfielder McKenzie Redoutey, who were all 2-for-3 on the day. Edwards scored one run and had one RBI, and McKee and Redoutey each had two RBI. Designated player Maci Bergeron had one hit, her ninth home run of the season, and had a game-high three RBI. LSU has hit a home run in seven of its last nine games. “I thought it was a complete game,” Torina said. “Tatum [Clopton] did a good job of keeping their offense guessing. We got some people in. We got to give Maci [Bergeron] a day off from catching and got Jada [Phillips] a little time. I thought there were a lot of good things throughout the game.” LA Tech scored a run in the top of the first inning, but LSU erased its lead quickly after a two-run shot by Bergeron in the home half. After Edwards and outfielder Jadyn Laneaux drew walks, McKee hit a two-run double to the gap in right-center field, and the Tigers concluded the first inning with a 4-1 lead. Neither club scored a run in the following three innings, but the Tigers struck again in the fifth. Bergeron drew a walk, and Sa’Mya Jones came in to pinch-run for her. After stealing second base, Redoutey singled back to the pitcher and off her leg toward the outfield. Jones came around to score, increasing the margin to 5-1. The Tigers wrapped up the game in the sixth stanza with four runs on four hits. LSU loaded the bases with no outs on a single and two walks. Bergeron drove in her third run of the day with a sac fly, and Edwards, Redoutey and Laneaux hit run-scoring singles to end the game 9-1. Although falling short in the finale, LSU (34-5, 8-4 SEC) topped Alabama (28-15, 5-7 SEC) in the three-game series, 2-1, and leads the SEC with 13 Top 25 wins. “This was a good series win, especially when you are playing a team in the Top 25, like Alabama,” said head coach Beth Torina. “Sure, we have to go back to the drawing board a little and make some better decisions throughout the game and how we manage the staff, but that is on me. Despite that, this is still a big series win, and I thought we had an opportunity to win this game as well.” LSU starting pitcher Ashley Vallejo (2-1) was charged with the loss after giving up four hits, two earned runs, and two walks with one strikeout in 3.1 innings. Pitcher Jayden Heavener worked 3.2 innings, firing 77 pitches, and surrendered seven hits, four earned runs, two walks, and two strikeouts. Alabama pitcher Catelyn Riley (9-1) received the win. Riley gave up three hits, two runs (one earned), two walks and one strikeout in 4.2 innings. Infielder Tori Edwards led LSU at the plate with a 3-for-4 outing, scored two runs, and had two RBI off her 14th home run of the season. Edwards has turned in 14 multi-hit and multi-RBI games this season. Designated player Savanna Bedell registered her second multi-hit game of the series, hitting 2-for-3 and driving in one run. For the third time this series, LSU scored first and held a 1-0 lead after the opening inning thanks to catcher Maci Bergeron’s sac fly. Alabama got the run back in the top of the second thanks to outfielder Lauren Johnson’s two-out RBI single and built a 4-1 advantage after plating three runs on three hits with two LSU errors in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Johnson. Bama stretched its lead to 5-1 in the fifth after Johnson’s RBI single for her fourth RBI of the day. LSU started to rally in the sixth, making it a two-run game at 5-3 after RBI singles from Bedell and infielder Maddox McKee. However, Bama responded in the top of the seventh with outfielder Audrey Vandagriff’s three-run home run to expand the lead to 8-3. The Tigers picked up the bats in the bottom of the seventh, and Bergeron hit a one-out double before Edwards brought her home with a 303-foot shot to left field. LSU improves to 34-4 and 8-3 in the SEC, while Alabama falls to 27-15 and 4-7 in league play. With the series clinched, LSU has defeated Alabama in the last two series played at Tiger Park and three of the last four meetings in Baton Rouge. “I think Alabama’s pitchers did a nice job today. I think they are really good arms,” said Head Coach Beth Torina. “Our offense did a good job finding ways to score, considering the quality arms they [Alabama] have. Sometimes it is like that. Sometimes, you have to find a way.” LSU pitcher Jayden Heavener improved to 11-2 in the circle after striking out seven batters and rendering one run, three hits and four walks in 6.0 innings. Sydney Berzon finished the final inning with one strikeout and one walk to earn her first save of the season and eighth in her career. Berzon is tied for third all-time in the program's record book with eight saves (Rachele Fico and Ali Kilponen). Alabama’s ace Jocelyn Briski (10-9) was given the loss after giving up one unearned run on two hits, walked three batters, and had one strikeout in 2.1 innings. LSU’s Jalia Lassiter turned in her fourth consecutive two-hit game and led LSU batting 2-for-4 with one RBI. Danieca Coffey logged her 70th career multi-hit game (2-for-3), scored one run and drew a walk. The Tigers got on the board early in the opening inning with an RBI groundout by Tori Edwards. After two scoreless stanzas, Jadyn Laneaux led off the fourth with a standup double and advanced to third on Coffey’s 50th hit of the season. Lassiter laid down a bunt single to score Laneaux and gave LSU a 2-0 lead through four. In those first four frames, Heavener dealt six strikeouts, including striking out the side in the second, and gave up one hit and four total base runners. Alabama broke through in the fifth inning after loading the bases with a single, a walk, and a hit batter. The Crimson Tide scored their only run after another Bama batter wore a pitch, cutting its deficit in half, 2-1. Neither club scored a run in the sixth, but Alabama threatened in the top of the seventh, loading the bases again off a single, an LSU error, and a walk with one out. The runners would stay stranded, however, after Berzon struck out the next batter and a groundout to third sealed the save, the win, and the series. For just the second time in the all-time series, LSU (33-4, 7-3 SEC) run-ruled Alabama (27-14, 4-6 SEC). The Tigers' first run-rule win against the Crimson Tide was on April 6, 2002, a 9-1 decision in Tuscaloosa, Ala. LSU has 16 run-rule victories this season, including three in the SEC. “We had two really good days of prep,” said Head Coach Beth Torina. “I think the team was excited. They were fired up. We had Constance Quinn in the huddle tonight to get them going. The alums were out tonight, so there was a lot of buzz around the park. It was great to get the series started that way.” Berzon tossed a gem in the opener to improve to 15-2. The two-time All-American fanned five batters and allowed four hits and no walks. Berzon’s fifth shutout this season is a new career high as she ups her total to 12 career shutouts. LSU’s hitting from the final two innings Tuesday night at McNeese rolled over to game one as the home team outhit Bama 11-4 and had four batters with two hits, including Danieca Coffey (2-for-2, 2 runs), Jalia Lassiter (2-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBI), McKenzie Redoutey (2-for-3, 1 run, 1 RBI) and Savanna Bedell (2-for-2, 1 run, 1 RBI). Lassiter capped the game with her second home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth inning. Alabama’s starting pitcher Emily Winstead (7-3) picked up the loss. She had one strikeout and gave up three runs on four hits in 0.2 innings. LSU started fast with three runs on five hits in the first frame to take an early 3-0 lead. Two batters in, the Tigers were on the scoreboard thanks to a leadoff double by Coffey and an RBI single by Lassiter. Redoutey hit a one-out single up the middle to score Lassiter, and Bedell singled through the left side to plate Maci Bergeron who also singled through the left side. “When we start fast, it changes how we do everything,” said Coach Torina. “It changes how she [Sydney Berzon] can attack hitters. She gets to be so much more aggressive. If you give a pitcher like Sydney Berzon an advantage like that, you are going to have a good night. She is so talented; she can capitalize on that and feel confident. This team has been incredible about scoring first all season long.” After a couple of one-out singles for LSU in the third inning, Maddox McKee hit a run-scoring single, Bedell scored on a throwing error, and heads-up base running brought McKee home, extending the Tigers’ lead to 6-0. LSU (32-4) rallied from a late 2-0 deficit and put up six runs in the sixth and seventh innings behind 13 hits, highlighted by multi-run blasts by infielders Tori Edwards, Maddox McKee and outfielder McKenzie Redoutey to spoil what would have been an upset for McNeese (23-16). Edwards hit her 13th home run of the season and now has 53 RBI, which ranks No. 3 among freshmen all-time in program history in both categories. McKee’s insurance shot was the first of her collegiate career, and Redoutey’s two-run homer in the seventh was her second of the season. Eight of LSU’s starters registered a hit, including multi-hit games from infielder Avery Hodge (3-for-4), Redoutey (2-for-2), McKee (2-for-4) and outfielders Jadyn Laneaux (2-for-4) and Jalia Lassiter (2-for-4). Edwards drove in a game-high four RBI. LSU has turned in 16 games with 10 or more hits and 15 games with 10 or more runs this season. On Tuesday night, the Tigers scored the most runs in a game when held scoreless through five innings. The previous high was 10 runs against Troy on March 4, 2022. Jayden Heavener (10-2) tossed her ninth complete game of the season, had eight punchouts, and surrendered two runs on three hits and nine walks. McNeese’s starting pitcher, Kadence Williams, receives the loss after throwing 5.1 solid innings but gave up three runs on three hits with two walks and no strikeouts. McNeese held LSU scoreless through the first five innings and struggled offensively as Williams and the Cowgirl defense retired 12 of the first 13 batters faced through four stanzas. In the top of the fifth inning, Redoutey was hit by a pitch, and designated player Savanna Bedell broke up the no-hitter with a single to center field. An error by McNeese’s outfielder put Bedell and Redoutey in scoring position with no outs, but the Cowgirls turned a double play and retired the next batter to end the threat. In the bottom of the fifth, McNeese loaded the bases with two walks and a hit-by-pitch with two outs, and the Cowgirls broke through with a two-run single down the right field line off Rylie Bouvier’s bat, giving McNeese a 2-0 lead. The Tigers exploded in the sixth inning with six runs on seven hits. Hodge led off the inning with a single up the middle, and two batters later, Lassiter singled to center field. Another error by the outfielder brought Hodge home for The Tigers’ first run. Catcher Maci Bergeron drew a walk, and Edwards tagged a pitch over the left-field wall to give LSU a 4-2 lead. After Redoutey singled, McKee went yard to cap the inning, and LSU took a 6-2 advantage into the seventh inning. LSU added six more runs in the top of the seventh to build a 12-2 lead, featuring a sac fly for Edwards, a two-run home run by Redoutey, RBI doubles by Laneaux and Hodge, and a run-scoring single by infielder Danieca Coffey. The Cowgirls loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with two outs, but Heavener tallied her ninth strikeout to make the game final.
