Da Boot Sports 5/2/2025 By: Terrill J. Weil FAYETTEVILLE, AR - LSU bounced back on Friday night to take game two against Arkansas, 13-2. Jayden Heavener (12-4) pitch a fantastic game for LSU to earn the victory. She gave up two runs of four hits, walked six while striking out eight. LSU was able to plate a run in the top of the first. Danieca Coffey started it off with a leadoff base on balls. Two batters later, Tori Edwards drew a one out walk. Maci Bergeron then double to right field, scoring Coffey. The game would move to the bottom of the frame with the Lady Tigers up, 1-0. Arkansas plated a run in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1-1 as we headed to the second inning. Maddox McKee started the second inning with a one out single, then stole second base. Sierra Daniel doubled to center field. The Lady Hogs were able to throw out McKee at home plate. Daniel moved to third on the throw home. Coffey then doubled to left to score Daniel. Jalia Lassiter ended up on second base on a throwing error by the Arkansas right fielder. Coffey scored on the play. As the contest moved to the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Tigers held a 3-1 advantage. LSU did more damage in the fifth. Coffey led off with a single to left field. Lassiter reached on a fielder's choice, but another throwing error by Arkansas moved Coffey to third. Bergeron drew a base on balls to load the bases with no outs. Edwards grounded out, but scored Coffey. McKenzie Redoutey reached first on a bunt single to load the bases with one out. Jadyn Laneaux walked to send another run home. Avery Hodge then singled up the middle to plate another run. With the bases still loaded McKee walked to bring another run across the plate. Savanna Bedell singled to left field to score Laneaux. Arkansas finally got the last two outs to stop the bleeding, but not before LSU extended their lead to 8-1. The Lady Razorbacks plated a run in the bottom of the frame to cut the LSU advantage to 8-2. LSU added to their lead in the sixth, plating a run to take a 9-2 lead. The Lady Tigers stayed hot at the plate in the top of the seventh. Daniel started it off with a single up the middle. Coffey grounded out, moving Daniel to second. Lassiter drew a base on balls. Bergeron singled to left field to load the bases. After Edwards struck out, Redoutey stepped to the plate and launched grand slam to right center field. The frame ended with LSU leading, 13-2. With the win the Lady Tigers improve to 40-12 overall and 12-11 in SEC play. Next up, LSU and Arkansas will play the rubber match of the series on Saturday, May 3 at 1:00pm.
