Weil LAKE CHARLES, LA - The Lady Tigers traveled to Lake Charles to play a very good McNeese team on Tuesday night and came away with a quality 9-3 victory. Jayden Heavener (5-2) got the start in the circle for LSU and had a fantastic outing, going seven innings to get the win. She gave up three runs on six hits. Walked seven while striking out 11. Sierra Daniel drew a lead off walk to begin the contest. Maddox McKee grounded out, moving Daniel to second base. Jalia Lassiter then walked. Tori Edwards singled and was able to advance to second. Lassiter moved to third and Daniel scored thanks to a throwing error by McNeese. Runners on second and third with only one out. Alix Franklin walked to load the bases. Char Loerenz popped out. Ally Hutchins drew a walk to bring home a run. Kylee Edwards the singled to third base, bringing Tori Edwards home. With the bases still loaded, Destiny Harris walked to bring Franklin home, keeping things going. The Lady Tigers would leave the bases loaded, but were able to plate a few runs. We headed to the bottom of the frame with LSU leading, 4-0. LSU extended their lead in the top of the third when Char Lorenz homered to left field. Hutchins walked. Kylee Edwards singled to left field. Harris singled to load the bases. Daniel drew a walk to bring Hutchins home. McKee then grounded out, bringing Edwards home. We moved to the bottom of the third with LSU up, 7-0. Char Lorenz continues to show off her power in the top of the fourth as she blasted a two out homer to left field. Heading to the bottom of the frame, LSU now led, 8-0. The Cowgirls plated a run in the bottom of the fourth. 8-1, LSU. In the top of the fifth, Mckee hit a one out double to left field. Lassiter then singled up the middle, scoring McKee. Lassitier moved up to second on the throw. 9-1 Lady Tigers as we moved to the bottom of the fifth. McNeese fought back, scoring two more runs. 9-3, LSU after five innings. The Lady Tigers were able to close out the contest to earn the victory on the road. With the win, LSU improves to 13-4. Next up the Lady Tigers will return home to host the LSU Invitational. They will start the weekend round robin with two games. First against Nicholls on Friday, Feb. 27 at 4:00pm. then will play Memphis at 6:30pm. *John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
