Weil GAME ONE: BATON ROUGE, LA - The #16 LSU Softball team returned to action on Friday as they played Nevada in the first of two games scheduled and defeated LSU got things going in the bottom of the first. Jailia Lassiter got on with a lead off walk, then stole second base. Sierra Daniel walked. Tori Edwards drew a base on balls to load the bases with only one out. Ally Hutchins the smashed a three run double to left center field. We headed to the second inning with LSU up, 3-0. Nevada plated a run in the top of the third inning. 3-1, Lady Tigers. Nevada struck again in the top of the sixth. Talia Tretton hit a solo home run to left field that just stayed fair, cutting the LSU lead to 3-2. LSU responded in the bottom of the frame. With Kylee Edwards on second, Char Lorenz hit a two run shot over the left field wall. Avery Hodge walked and then stole second. Sierra Daniel singled to right field to bring Hodge home. We moved to the seventh with LSU ahead, 6-2. Next up, LSU will play NC State in their second contest of the day. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GAME TWO: BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU trailed NC State for the entire game before coming back to win, 7-5 on a walk off home run in the bottom of the seventh by Jalia Lassiter. to improve to 3-0 on the season. CeCe Cellura started the game in the circle for LSU, but was replaced in the second inning by Tatum Clopton who got the win. NC State got started early, plating two runs in the top of the first inning. The Lady WolfPack loaded the bases with no outs. Hannah Church singled up the middle to score both runs. 2-0, NC State as we headed to the second. The Lady WolfPack had another big inning in the top of the third, scoring three runs to increase their lead to 5-0. LSU finally got on the scoreboard. Tori Edwards hit a one out single. Ally Hutchins then walked. Kylee Edwards stepped to the plate and singled to center field, bringing Edwards home and moving Hutchins to third. LSU now trailed 5-1 as we moved on to the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fifth, Hutchins hit a one out solo home run, cutting the NC State lead to 5-2 as we moved to the sixth inning. LSU battled back in the bottom of the seventh. Tori Edwards led off with a triple. Hutchins then walked. Edwards scored and Hutchins moved to second base on a wild pitch. Lorenz was hit by a pitch. Alix Franklin then doubled to left field, moving Lorenz to third and scoring Hutchins. Harris pinch ran for Lorenz and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. Jalia Lassiter then blasted a two run homer over the left field wall to win the game for LSU in walk off fashion. *John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life.
