Da Boot Sports 2/22/2026 LSU Sports Communications By: LSU Staff LSU played the final game of the Purple and Gold Challenge, defeating Howard, 1-0 in a quickly played ball game on Sunday afternoon. Ashlin Mowery got the start in the circle for the Lady Tigers. She ended up going 5.1 innings, giving up one hit, one walk and four strikeouts. Mowery (1-0) earned the win while Tatum Clopton got the save. The Lady Tigers got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first. Jalia Lassiter led off by reaching safely on a fielding error which allowed her to advance to second base. Sierra Daniel grounded out to move Lassiter to third. Tori Edwards then singled down the right field line to bring the run home. We headed to the second inning with LSU leading, 1-0. LSU blew a scoring opportunity in the bottom of thew fourth, loading the bases with only one out, but ended up standing all three runners. In the top of the sixth inning with runners on first and second and only one out, Beth Torina decided to replace Mowery with Tatum Clopton. Clopton got LSU back in the dugout quickly with no damage done as we moved to the bottom of the frame. Clopton quickly took care of the Bison hitters, three up-three down in the seventh for the victory. With the win LSU improves to 12-4. Next up the Lady Tigers will travel to Lake Charles to play McNeese on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 6:00pm. *John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life.
