Story Courtesy of: LSUsports.net By: Chelsey Chamberlain | Assistant Communications Director BATON ROUGE – The No. 6 LSU Softball team put together a 8-0 run-rule of Belmont in five innings as Ali Kiponen threw a one-hit shutout. The Tigers are now 10-1 on the year, while Belmont drops to 1-5. Kilponen was off to a hot start in the circle. She walked the first batter of the game, but came back to strike out the next three. The offense was slow to start but the Tigers had a chance in the second. Georgia Clark led off with a 10-pitch at-bat that led to a walk. Shelbi Sunseri followed with a fielder's choice to third and Clark was safe at second. The next three went down in order, ending the threat on a ground out back to the pitcher. The offense exploded in the fourth inning as the Tigers scored six runs off four hits. Morgan Cummins hit a base-clearing double to take a 3-0 lead. Anna Jones followed with a walk and scored on Aliyah Andrews triple to left center. Ciara Briggs followed with a double to left field to score Andrews, taking a 6-0 lead. Clark started off the fifth inning with a double. Raeleen Gutierrez came in to pinch run and moved to third on a Taryn Antoine's dropped fly ball in left field. Amanda Doyle brought in Gutierrez on a sacrifice fly to right center. The Tigers run-ruled on a dropped fly ball in right center, bringing Antoine in to end the game.
