Da Boot Sports 1/16/2023 By: David Penn BATON ROUGE, LA - The LSU Tigers hosted the Auburn Tigers on Sunday August 15th in front of a capacity crowd at the PMAC in Baton Rouge and did not disappoint as they continued their winning streak with a 84-54 victory. On a day that the Tigers unveiled a statue of LSU legend Simone Augustus, Kim Mulkey’s team continued their historic start to the season by dominating Auburn from tip off to the final buzzer. The #3 Tigers (18-0, 6-0) scored the first five points of the contest before finishing the first quarter leading by nine points with a 23-14 edge. Angel Reese would dominate the second quarter, scoring 10 of the 18 points LSU tallied in the period. LSU would head to the locker room at the half holding a 41-22 advantage after only allowing Auburn 8 points in the second period. Reese earned her 18th double double in as many games and led all scorers with 23 points while also leading all in rebounds, grabbing 15 boards. Jasmine Carson finished the game with 18 points. Alexis Morris finished with a double double, scoring 12 points and dishing 10 assists. Flau’Jae Johnson finished the game with 10 points. Auburn was led in scoring and rebounding by Precious Johnson who dropped in 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Kharyssa Richardson was the only other Auburn player to reach double figures, scoring 10 points for the visiting Tigers. Up next LSU will host the Arkansas Razorbacks (17-3, 4-1) on Thursday January 19, tip time will be 8:00pm. Arkansas will enter the PMAC on a four game winning streak with their only conference loss coming at the hands of LSU on December 29, a final score of 69-45.
