Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The #5 Lady Tigers returned to the PMAC to take on Southeastern Louisiana and came away with a 115-26 blowout victory over the Lady Lions. The game was a blowout from the opening tipoff, as LSU flexed their muscles all night long. LSU was on fire for all four periods and played suffocating defense. The Lady Tigers finished then night shooting, 50-74 for 68%. They hit 8-18 from three point land for 44%. They sank 7-13 from the free throw line for 54%. LSU out-rebounded SLU, 55-20 and forced the Lions into 29 turnovers while committing 15. Flau'Jae Johnson led the team with 17 points. ZaKiyah Johnson and Kate Koval both scored 16 points each. Bella Hines added 14 points. Grace Knox contributed 11. Mikaylah Williams and Kailyn Gilbert both finished with 8 points each. Amiya Joyner added 7 points. Divine Bourrage, Meghan Yarnevich and MiLaysia Fulwiley all scored 6 points each. It was a hot shooting LSU team to start the contest. The Lady Tigers went on a 13-2 run over the first four and a half minutes of the opening period, forcing SLU to call a timeout at the 6:36 mark. Over the final 6:36 of the first quarter, LSU would go on a 17-2 run to take a 30-4 advantage into the second period. LSU continued to pour it on as the second period began. The Lady Tigers dominated the first four and a half minutes of the period, going on a 15-2 run to extend their lead to 45-6 with 5:34 left in the first half. The Ben-Gals were simply too much for SLU on both ends of the court. Over the final 5:34 of the first half, LSU would go on a 16-0 run to take a 55 point lead, 61-6 into the locker room at the halftime break. The Lady Tigers ended the first half shooting 26-38 from the floor for 68%. They were 4-8 from behind the arc. They sank 5-8 free throw attempts. LSU out-rebounded the Lady Lions, 27-9 over the first 20 minutes. The Lady Tigers committed only six turnovers in the first half , while forcing SLU into 17. Flau'Jae Johnson led the team at the break with 10 points. Grace Knox, ZaKiyah Johnson and Kate Koval all had 8 points each. Bella Hines and Kailyn Gilbert both had 6 points each. Meghan Yarnevich and Amiya Joyner scored 4 points each. Mikaylah Williams scored 3. Divine Bourrage and MiLaysia Fulwiley both had 2 points each. The blowout continued in the third period. Over the first five minutes of the quarter, LSU out-scored the Lady Lions, 15-3. With 5:01 left in the third, LSU now led, 76-9. At the end of the third period, LSU held a 91-13 advantage. The Lady Tigers were gliding along on cruise control. At the 5:12 official's timeout of the final period, LSU led, 103-16. LSU improved to 2-0 with the 115-26 victory. Next up, the Lady Tigers will travel to Statesboro, Georgia to play Georgia Southern on Sunday, November 9. Tipoff is set for 1:00 pm CST. The game will be televised on ESPN Plus.
