LSU defeated Marist in their first game, 113-53, setting the NCAA record for the longest streak of scoring 100 points in a game at seven. The Lady Tigers finished the night shooting 53% from the floor. They sank 4-16 from three point land for 26%. They had another solid night from the free throw line, hitting, 15-18 for 83%. LSU out-rebounded the Red Fox Ladies, 59-30. LSU committed 11 turnovers while forcing Marist into 28. ZaKiyah Johnson led the team with 19 points. Kate Koval had a double/double, scoring 17 points with 10 rebounds. Flau'Jae Johnson finished with 16. Amiya Joynner had a double/double with 16 points and 10 boards. MiLaysia Fulwiley, Grace Knox and Jada Rachard all finished with 11 points each. Mikaylah Williams added 6 points. Bella Hines, Divine Bourrage and Meghan Yarnrvich all scored 2 points each. The Lady Tigers dominated from the opening tip and finished the first period on a 12-0 run to take a 21-5 advantage into the second quarter. LSU's defense held Marist scoreless over the final four minutes of the opening period. LSU remained red hot, going on a 11-0 run to start the second period. At the 7:32 official's timeout, the Lady Tigers held a 32-5 lead. The Bayou Ben-Gals closed out the first half out-scoring an out-matched Red Fox squad, 26-9. LSU went into the locker room at the break leading, 58-14. LSU shot 23-48 from the floor in the first half for 48%. They only hit 1-8 from behind the arc for 13%. The Lady Tigers were solid from the charity stripe, sinking, 11-2 for 92%. LSU out-rebounded Marist, 34-18 over the first 20 minutes. The LSU defense forced 17 turnovers while only committing five in the first half. Amiya Joyner led the team at the break with 10 points. ZaKiyah Johnson and MiLaysia Fulwiley both added 9 points each. Kate Koval scored 8. Flau'Jae Johnson finished with 6. Grace Knox contributed 4 points. Divine Bourrage and Mikaylah Williams both finished with 2 points each. The third period began with both teams going back and forth trading baskets, as Marsit began to raise their level of play. At the 5:02 mark, LSU led, 74-29. Over the next four and a half minutes, LSU would go on a 15-5 run to extend their lead to 89-34 with 35 seconds left in the third. As the contest headed to the final period, LSU held a 55 point lead, 89-34. LSU out-scored the Red Fox Ladies, 12-6 over the first five minutes of the fourth period. With 4:51 left in the contest, the Lady Tigers led, 101-40. The Lady Tigers coasted the rest of the way for the impressive victory. With the win, LSU improves to 7-0.
