Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The Lady Tigers blasted the Alabama State Lady Hornets, 109-41 on Sunday afternoon in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in their final non-conference contest of the season. LSU shot 52% from the floor on the day. They only managed 2-13 from three point land for 15%. They sank 19-27 from the free throw line for 70%. LSU out-rebounded ASU, 53-34. The Lady Tigers committed 13 turnovers while ASU turned it over 36 times. Kovak lead the team with 23 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Joyner scored 19 points. Z. Johnson had 17. Hines finished with 11 points. F. Johnson scored 9. Richard contributed 6. Fulwiley added 5 points. Yarnevich had 4 points and Bourrage finished with 2 points. Both teams played sluggish to begin the contest, but it was the Lady Tigers who settled down first, out-scoring Alabama State, 8-2 over the first four minutes of the opening period. LSU would go on a 20-4 run over the final six minutes of the quarter. As the game headed to the second period, the Lady Tigers led, 28-6. At the 5:03 mark of the second period, the Lady Tigers led, 39-12. LSU finished off the first half with a 13-2 run to take a 53-13 advantage into the locker room for the halftime break. The Lady Tigers shot 21-45 from the field for 47% in the first half. They only hit 1-8 from behind the arc for 13%. The Ben-Gals sank 10-13 from the charity stripe for 77%. LSU out-rebounded Alabama State, 32-19 over the first 20 minutes. The Lady Tigers committed eight first half turnovers while forcing the Lady Hornets into 19. ZaKiyah Johnson led the team at the break with 15 ponits. Mikaylah Williams and Kate Koval both scored 7 points each. Bella Hines had 5. Meghan Yarnevich, Amiya Joyner and Flau'Jae Johnson all had 4 points each. MiLaysia Fulwiley contributed 3 points. Divine Bourrage and Jada Richard finished with 2 points each. LSU out-scored the Lady Hornets, 11-5 over the first four and a half minutes of the third period to lead, 64-19 at the 5:39 mark. As the third period ended, the Lady Tigers were roaring with an, 81-24 lead. The Lady Tigers remained in attack mode, going on a 17-5 run over the first four minutes of the fourth period. With six minutes left in the contest, LSU held a 98-29 advantage. LSU coasted the rest of the way for the blowout win. The Lady Tigers improve to 14-0.
