Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The #6 ranked Lady Tigers welcomed Arkansas to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Thursday night and came away with a dominating 92-70 victory. The Lady Tigers shot 46% from the floor on the night. They hit 6-15 from three point land for 40%. At the free throw line, they sank 8-14 for 57%. LSU out-rebounded Arkansas, 56-34. F. Johnson and Williams both lead the team with 17 points each. Knox, Richard and Koval scored 12 points each. Z. Johnson added 11. Fulwiley finished with 5 points. Joyner had 4 points and Hines added 2. Both teams started the contest shooting the ball well. At the 4:29 media timeout, Arkansas led, 15-10. We would head to the second period all even at 22-22 as LSU out-scored Arkansas, 12-7 over the final 4:29 of the opening quarter. The Lady Razorbacks came to play, giving LSU all they could handle in a tight, competitive game. With 4:35 left in the first half, the Lady Tigers held a 28-27 advantage. The first half was a very entertaining SEC battle, with LSU taking a 36-33 lead into the locker room at the break. LSU shot 17-48 from the field for 35% in the first half. They only hit 1-7 from behind the arc for 14%. At the charity stripe, they sank 1-3 for 33%. The Lady Tigers out-rebounded the Lady Hogs, 32-19. Arkansas committed eight first half turnovers while LSU had seven. Williams led the team at halftime with 8 points. Z. Johnson scored 7. Knox and Richard both added 6 points each. Koval contributed 5 points. Hines and Fulwiley both finished with 2 points each. The Lady Tigers started the third period with a 9-0 run, forcing Arkansas to call a timeout at the 8:16 mark with LSU on top, 45-33. LSU continued to add to their lead, going on a 9-6 run over the next four minutes, taking a 54-39 advantage at the 4:49 official's timeout. The contest headed to the fourth period with LSU holding a commanding 69-50 lead. The Lady Tigers out-scored the Lady Hogs 33-17 in the third quarter. With 4:40 remaining in the contest, LSU led 86-65. The Ben-Gals dominated the rest of the way to earn their sixth win in a row, improving to 20-2 overall and 6-2 in the SEC. Next up LSU will host Alabama on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 11:00am.
