LADY TIGERS' SEASON COMES TO AN END AS THEY FALL TO UCLA, 72-65

   SPOKANE, WA - The Lady Tigers took on a very good UCLA team in the Elite Eight on Sunday afternoon but unfortunately fell,  72-65 to end their season.

   
The Lady Tigers finished the day shooting 37% from the floor. They hit 5-15 from behind the arc for 33%. They finished 10-12 from the free throw line for 83%. Both teams turned the ball over 15 times. LSU out rebounded UCLA, 43-38.Johnson led the team with 28 points. Morrow scored 15 while Williams finished with 10 points.

   LSU started slow, finding themselves trailing in a low scoring affair, 7-4 at the 4:28 media timeout.

   The Lady Tigers woke up to go on a 9-2 run over the final four minutes of the quarter to take a 13-9 lead into the second period.

   The Lady Bruins got hot to start the second period, going on a 14-4 run over the first five minutes, taking a 23-17 advantage into the 4:58 media timeout.

   UCLA continued to outplay LSU, taking a 31-25 lead into the locker room for the halftime break.

   The Lady Tigers had a tough first half offensively, shooting 31% from the floor. They hit 2-9 from three point range. At the free throw line LSU sank 1-3. The Lady Tigers committed nine first half turnovers while forcing UCLA into five. LSU dominated the boards, 28-17.

   Aneesah Morrow led the team at the break with 9 points. Sa’Myah Smith and Flau’Jae Johnson both finished with 4 points each. Last-Tear Poa added 3. Jersey Wolfenbarger and Mikaylah Williams each scored only 2 points.

   UCLA started the third period scoring five quick points, forcing Kim Mulkey to call a timeout. 36-25, Bruins.

   The Lady Bruins would then go on a 7-4 run over the next two minutes to increase their lead to 43-29 at the 6:33 mark.

   LSU respond with a 12-3 run over the final six minutes of the quarter, cutting the UCLA lead to five, 46-41 as we headed into the fourth period.

   UCLA would outscore the Lady Tigers 10-6 over the first four and a half minutes of the period, to lead 56-47 with 6:34 left in the contest.

   LSU fought back but missed many key wide open shots as they found themselves down 62-55 with only 1:14 left on the clock.

   UCLA sank their free throws to earn the victory and advance to the final four.

   Another great season for the LSU women’s basketball program and Kim Mulkey as they finished with a 31-6 record.
