Da Boot Sports 3/1/2026 By: Terrill J. Weil STARKVILLE, MS - LSU traveled to Starkville and defeated Mississippi State, 72-63 in their final regular season game. LSU finished the game shooting 46% from the field. They hit 5-14 from three point land. At then free throw line they sank 11-16 for 69%. LSU out-rebounded State, 44-40. The Bulldogs had 15 total turnovers while LSU committed 20. Williams led the team with 26 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double. Fulwiley scored 16. Richard finished with 12 points. Joyner added 9 points. Falu'jae and Koval both had 4 points each. Z. Johnson finished with 1 point. LSU started slow with sloppy play and Mississippi State took advantage, racing out to a 12-3 advantage over the first six and a half minutes of the opening period. The Lady Tigers clawed back, going on a 9-2 run. Mikaylah Williams hit a shot in the paint with three seconds left in the period, cutting the Bulldog's lead to two, 14-12 as we headed into the second quarter. LSU started the second period with a 6-0 run, forcing State to call a timeout at the 7:41 mark. 18-14 Lady Tigers. The purple and gold giant was now fully awake as LSU would go on a 13-4 run over the next four minutes to led, 31-18 with 3:05 left in the first half. The Lady Tigers would go into halftime with a 35-22 lead. LSU shot 44% from the field in the first half. They hit 3-9 from behind the arc for 33%. At the charity stripe they sank 4-5 for 80%. LSU out-rebounded State, 22-19. The Lady Tigers committed eight first half turnovers while forcing the Bulldogs into 11. Williams led the team at the break with 12 points. Fulwiley scored 10. Richard added 5 points. Joyner and Flau'jae both had 4 points each. LSU started the third period with sloppy play, allowing Mississippi State to build some momentum. State would out-score LSU, 10-3 over the first four minutes, cutting the Lady Tigers' lead to 38-32. The Lady Tigers were ice cold from the floor over the next two minutes. Mississippi State was able to take advantage of a technical foul on Joyner, hitting the free throws, cutting LSU's lead to one, 38-37 at the 4:44 mark. The third period came to an end with LSU regaining control and holding a 54-47 lead. LSU started the fourth period shifted into another gear, out-scoring State, 18-15 over the first eight minutes of the final period. LSU led, 72-62 with 2:19 remaining. LSU controlled the final two minutes of play to take the win. The Lady Tigers finish the regular season 26-4 overall and 12-4 in the SEC. Next up LSU will head to Greenville, S.C. for the SEC Tournament. The Lady Tigers have a double bye, so they will sit back and wait for who their next opponent will be. *John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life.
