LSU led by 23 points, 67-44 with 5:24 left in the game before Auburn would go on a strong run to cut the led down to ten. Kim Mulkey mentioned after the contest that she probably substituted too much too early, which caused some sloppy play the rest of the way for the purple and gold.

The Lady Tigers shot 56% from the floor on the day. They went 0-6 from three point land. They sank 13-17 from the charity stripe. Both teams turned the ball over 16 times. LSU won the rebound battle, 31-29.
Annesah Morrow registered a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Kailyn Gilbert scored 17. Flau'Jae Johnson managed 12 points. Mikaylah Williams added 10 points. Sa'Yah Smith finished with 4. Shayeann Day-Wilson finished with 3 points. Jersey Wolfenbarger, Mjracle Sheppard and Aalyah Del-Rosario all had 2 points each.

The game started out with both teams playing tight as Auburn played tough against the undefeated Lady Tigers, holding a 7-5 lead at the 4:59 mark.

The first period came to an end with the visiting Tigers holding a 16-11 advantage.

LSU opened up the second period with a 17-3 run to retake the lead, 28-19 with 3:54 left in the first half.

The Lady Tigers took a 38-23 lead into the locker room at halftime. LSU played with intensity on offense, was aggressive on the boards and played solid defense in the second quarter.

LSU shot 17-30 from the floor in the first half for 57%. They were 0-3 from behind the arc, while sinking 4-5 free throws for 80%. The Ben-Gals turned the ball over seven times in the first half, while Auburn committed eight. LSU led in rebounds, 18-16.
Aneesah Morrow led the team at the break with 15 points. Kailyn Gilbert finished with 13 points. Flau'Jae Johnson added 4. Mjracle Sheppard, Sa'Myah Smith and Mikaylah Williams all had 2 points each.

The Lady Tigers would build a 20 point lead, 46-26 at the 6:45 mark of the third period, before Auburn would go on a 9-0 run, cutting the lead to 11, 46-35 with 3:43 left in the quarter.

LSU outscored Auburn, 8-4 over the final 3:43 of the quarter, to take a 54-39 lead into the fourth period.

The Lady Tigers stayed in control of the contest, going on a 13-3 run over the first four minutes of the final period to lead, 67-42.

Auburn refused to quit as they battled back to outscore LSU, 21-6 over the final 5:47 of the game.

With the win, the Lady Tigers are now, 17-0 overall and 2-0 in SEC play. Next up LSU will travel to Knoxville to play Tennessee on Thursday, January 9. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm and will be televised on ESPN Plus.
