Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The 7th ranked Lady Tigers return home to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center to host NC Central and came away with a 131-44 blow out victory. It was win #100 for Kim Mulkey as LSU's head coach. LSU began the contest hot as a pistol, opening up with a 16-10 run over the first five minutes of the opening period. NC Central showed no back down against LSU as they played with heart and hustle, keeping the game respectable early. Over the final five minutes of the first quarter the Tigers would outscore the Eagles, 10-8 to take a 26-18 lead into the second period. LSU raised their play up a notch and began to pull away from the visiting Eagles, going on a 17-0 run over the first six minutes of the period to take a 43-18 advantage with 4:20 left in the first half. The Lady Tigers totally dominated the second quarter, outscoring North Carolina Central, 35-0 to take a commanding, 63-18 lead into the halftime break. LSU shot a strong 51% from the floor in the first half. They also hit 2-3 three point attempts for 67%. The Tigers were 11-14 from the free throw line for 79%. Defensively, LSU forced 17 turnovers and out-rebounded the Eagles, 32-18 in the first 20 minutes. Aneesah Morrow led the team with 12 points. Flau'Jae Johnson scored 11 points. Jersey Wolfenbarger added 8. Kailyn Gilbert added 6 points. Last-Tear Poa and Mjracle Sheppard both scored 5 points each. Aalyah Del Rosario, Jada Richard, Sa'Myah Smith and Shayeann Day-Wilson scored 4 points each. LSU continued to cruise in the second half, starting the third period with a 13-6 run to increase their lead to 76-24 with 6:12 left in the quarter. The Lady Tigers remained in complete control, outscoring the Eagles, 22-9 over the final six minutes of the third period to take a 98-33 lead into the final quarter. LSU outscored NC Central, 33-11 in the fourth quarter for the final margin. With the win the Tigers are now 9-0 on the season. Next up LSU will host Stanford in the PMAC on Thursday December 5.
