Weil LSU traveled to Uncasville, Conn. to take on Seton Hall in the Basketball HOF Women's Showcase and easily defeated the Lady Pirates, 91-64 to improve to 13-0. The Lady Tigers toyed with the Pirates most of the contest for the dominating win. LSU shot 54% from the floor for the game. They hit 9-20 from behind the three point arc for 45%. They were good at the free throw line sinking, 10-13 for 77%. Aneesah Morrow led the team with another double-double, 24 points and 19 rebounds. Mikaylah Williams finished with 22 points. Flau'Jae Johnson added 17 points. Kailyn Gilbert scored 14. Jersey Wolfenbarger had 8 points. The first period was a tight, competitive one, but the Lady Tigers outplayed Seton Hall just enough to lead by seven, 22-15 at the end of the quarter. LSU shot a strong 57% in the opening period. LSU would open up the second quarter with a 13-4 run, to increase their lead to 35-19, forcing Seton Hall to call a timeout with 7:10 left in the first half. The Lady Pirates' timeout couldn't stop the bleeding as LSU responded with a 17-6 run over the final 7:10 of the second quarter to take a 52-25 lead at halftime. The Ben-Gals simply exploded in the second period as they finished the first half shooting 20-35 from the floor for 57%. After only making one three point shot in their last game, the Lady Tigers hit 6-14 from behind the arc over the first 20 minutes. They sank 6-9 from the free throw line for 67%. LSU only committed four first half turnovers while forcing the Pirates into eight. LSU also won the rebound battle in the first half, 22-19. Mikaylah Williams led the Tigers at the break with 17 points. Aneesah Morrow finished with 13 points. Flau'Jae Johnson added 8. Jersey Wolfenbarger added 6 points, while Kailyn Gilbert and Sa'Myah Smith both scored 4 points each. Over the first four minutes of the third period Seton Hall outscored LSU, 11-9, but the Lady Tigers still held a 25 point lead, 61-36 with 6:01 left in the quarter. LSU remained in control over the final six minutes of the period, taking a 22 point advantage, 71-49 into the final quarter. The Lady Tigers continued to play well, outscoring Seton Hall, 11-8 over the first six minutes of the fourth quarter to hold a 82-57 lead with only 4:20 left in the contest. LSU would coast the rest of the way for the 91-64 victory. Next up, the Lady Tigers head to Chicago to play Illinois-Chicago on Thursday, December 19.
