Weil BATON ROUGE, LA - The #4 ranked Lady Tigers hosted the ULL Lady Cajuns on Sunday afternoon and earned an 85-57 victory in front of 11,328 Tiger fans in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. After a shaky first period, LSU raised their game play to pull away from the Cajuns. The Lady Tigers finished the day shooting 47% from the floor. They only hit 1-5 three point attempts. LSU went to the free throw line 41 times, sinking 30 of them for 73%. The only hick up of the game for LSU was turnovers. They committed 21 total while forcing ULL into 20. The Lady Tigers completely owned the boards, out-rebounding the Cajuns, 53-22. Jersey Wolfenbarger led LSU with a double/double, 18 points and 15 rebounds. Aneesah Morrow registered a double/double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Kailyn Gilbert scored 14 points. Mikaylah Williams added 12 points. Flau'Jae Johnson had an off game, only scoring 11. Last-Tear Poa finished with 5 points and Mjracle Sheppard had 4. LSU started fast, scoring a quick six points. After leading 6-2, the Tigers would go ice cold. Tamaiah Robinson hit a three pointer for the Lady Cajuns to cut the lead to 6-5. That's where to score stood at the 3:53 media timeout. The Lady Tigers outscored ULL, 10-6 over the final 3:53 of the period to hold a 16-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Cajuns were able to keep the score close thanks to nine turnovers by LSU in the opening period. LSU would go on a 15-5 run over the first six minutes of the second period to take a 31-16 advantage with 4:15 left in the first half. The Ben-Gals would outscore ULL, 20-8 in the second period to take a 36-19 lead into the halftime break. LSU shot 12-23 from the floor in the first half for 52%. No three pointers for the Lady Tigers in the first 20 minutes of play, as they went 0-1. They sank 12-15 from the free throw line for 80%. Both teams were careless with the ball in the first half, as LSU committed 15 turnovers and ULL turned it over 12 times. LSU dominated on the glass, 25-9. Jersey Wolfenbarger led the team with 12 points at the break. Kailyn Gilbert scored 9 points. Mikaylah Williams had 4 points. Mjracle Sheppard finished with 3. Flau'Jae Johnson, Last-Tear Poa, Sa'Myah Smith and Aneesah Morrow all had 2 points each. Over the first five minutes of the third period, both teams played even at 12-12, as LSU continued to lead by 17 points, 48-31 at the 4:48 mark. LSU continued to stay in control of the ballgame, outscoring the Cajuns, 12-10 over the final 4:48 of the third period to take a 60-42 lead into the fourth quarter. The Lady Tigers would outscore ULL, 15-9 over the first five minutes of the fourth period, to take a 75-51 lead with 4:54 left in the contest. LSU continued to pull away from the Lady Cajuns for a dominating, 85-57 victory. With the win, LSU improves to 12-0 on the season. Next up LSU will travel to Uncasville, Connecticut to play Seton Hall in the Basketball HOF Women's Showcase. Tipoff is set for 5:00 pm. The game will be televised on FS1....
