Da Boot Sports 2/5/2026 By: Terrill J. Weil AUSTIN, TX - The 6th ranked Lady Tigers traveled to Austin for their huge rematch with #4 Texas and unfortunately fell 77-64. LSU sputtered badly in the second half, only scoring 28 points as well as committing 19 total turnovers. LSU shot 42% from the field for the game. They only hit 5-13 from behind the three point arc for 38%. They sank 9-14 from the free throw line. The Lady Tigers had 40 rebounds while Texas had 36. The 19 turnovers were very costly. Williams led the team with 20 points, but had little help. Flau'Jae finished with 11 points. Fulwiley added 9. Z. Johnson contributed 7 points. Joyner finished with 5. Knox and Koval both had 4 points each. Hines and Richard finished with 2 points each The rematch between these two SEC heavy weights began with high energy. Both teams ran the floor at a fast pace while trading baskets. At the 4:33 media timeout, Texas led 10-8. LSU would go on a 9-3 run to end the opening period, taking a 17-13 advantage into the second quarter. At the 5:58 mark, LSU held a 26-22 lead. The game was living up to its hype, as both teams took turns trading the lead until Texas took over late in the half, going on an 18-10 run to take a 40-36 lead at halftime. LSU shot 15-36 from the field in the first half for 42%. They hit 3-6 from behind the arc. At the charity stripe they sank 3-5 for 60%. The Lady Tigers led the rebound battle in the first half, 24-15. LSU committed nine turnovers while Texas had five over the first 20 minutes. Williams led the team at the break with 13 points. Joyner and Flau'Jae both scored 5 points each. Fulwiley added 4. Z. Johnson finished with 3. Knox, Koval and Richard scored 2 points each. LSU started the third period out-scoring Texas, 9-7, cutting the Lady Longhorn's lead to two, 47-45 at the 5:04 mark. Texas would take a 57-53 lead into the fourth period. With 7:17 remaining, Texas had their largest lead of the contest, 61-53. The Lady Longhorns were playing suffocating defense, forcing LSU into several costly turnovers. Over the final 7:17 of the contest, Texas out-scored LSU 16-11 to earn the victory. With the loss LSU falls to 21-3 overall and 7-3 in the SEC. Next up, the Lady Tigers will stay on the road to play Auburn on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 1:00pm CST.
