Da Boot Sports 6/19/2024 By: Terrill J. Weil There hasn't been many players in the NFL like Guido Merkens. He was called the 'jack of all trades' as he was able to play multiple positions. Merkens started his career with the Houston Oilers as an undrafted free agent in 1878. He joined the Saints in 1980. Merkens was the Saints 3rd string quarterback, played on special teams including holding for field goals and extra points. He filled in as a backup punter, a punt and kick returner, wide receiver and also played safety. Merkens could be found on the field anywhere at any time, getting the job done for the Saints. He played in New Orleans from 1980-1986 before finishing off his NFL career in Philadelphia in 1987. Not sure what Merkens is doing today. Last noted, he was a general manager at a CarMax dealership in 2007. John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior) *John 3;16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
